My ultimate sleeping tips – this definitely works!

Sleeping tips and habits. Last autumn I had some serious sleeping problems. Our uni project wasn’t working the way we’d expected and even though we had enough time, I was super stressed out. Of course, this affected my sleep a lot. Every night I was building houses in my head like a 3d modelling program or I didn’t sleep at all. My body was super tired but my mind danced salsa. I swear, I tried almost everything – starting from meditation, relaxing music, audio dramas and more. A lot helped and some things didn’t. Here are my ultimate sleeping tips.

My ultimate sleeping tips

Work out

Since the beginning of the year I’m working out regularly. This helps me a lot and not only do I feel fitter, I sleep a whole lot better. Of course, you shouldn’t work out right before bedtime because you’ll get fit again. This was probably one of the things I needed the most. I’ve been doing Blogilates from Cassie Ho for a couple of months and started the Bikini Body Guide from Kayla 5 weeks ago.

Cut down coffees

Coffee was a big issue for me. I’m not an addict at all and coffee in the morning was all fine. But whenever I drank one after lunchtime I knew that it’s going to be a sleepless night. Since the beginning of the year I drank one coffee and sometimes a decaffeinato. Tea is so much better

Just sleep in bed

So guilty! I study in bed a lot, work there and watch movies. In fact, I could spend the whole day in bed but at a point by back would heart too much. I was so glad that I’ve gotten the recommendation to stay out of the bed during the day. It helped me a lot and whenever I cozy up in my bed my body knows that it has to do anything else but sleep.

Warm duvet and cool room temperature

A big problem was that my duvet was simply too cold in winter. Especially in winter I love a cool room and to stay under a cozy and warm blanket. Also, fresh air before bedtime is so good.

Put your phone away

I’m definitely belonging to the group of people who always check any social media app on my phone before bedtime. The blue light is definitely the worst thing. The best is to put the phone 30 minutes before bedtime away (even better when out of the room) and get a separate alarm.

Read

Instead of using your phone you should start reading again. It effects miracles! I started to go to the library regularly and I love light chicklit. Moreover I read a lot of foreign-language books, which tax my brain even more and I’ll get tired. Sometimes the books are way too exciting that I have to finish it.

Evening tea

I drink a lot of tea during the day. A green tea in the morning and an herbal tea before bedtime. It’s not only good for my digestion but also calms be down. When I was I kid I used to drink a hot milk with honey at lot.

Tea tree oil

One of my readers brought me tea tree oil back in mind. During my infancy my mum used to hang a towel sprinkled with tea tree oil near our bed whenever we were ill or just to calm us. This worked really well for me in the last months.

Take a hot shower before bedtime

I’m actually a person who showers in the morning. Sometimes I shower in the evening and I feel so clean and the hot water is so slumberous. Those of you who prefer to take a bath try to put some melissa, hops, lavender or hay flowers in it – so relaxing!

Rituals Meditation App & audio dramas

And last but not least when nothing works I listen to the meditation from the Ritual App. Also, audio dramas work really well for me. The only bad thing about them is that you’ll get used to it too quickly and cannot sleep without.
