During our stay at the Posta Marcucci in Bagno Vignoni we took some day tours outside the village and discovered some more beautiful villages.

5 Villages to visit in Val D’Orcia
BAGNO VIGNONI

Starting off with the village where we stayed at. I’ve mentioned it before but I worked there over the summer ten years ago and came back again six years ago. The cute ancient village is known for its hot springs having a large bath in the centre of the village. The thermal baths date back to the Etruscans and Romans. The thermal bath is not accessible for public any longer. You can book a day pass at the public baths of Albergo Posta Marcucci, stay at the fancy five stars hotel Adler Thermae or enjoy some hours at the public springs which are located at the bottom of the hill. Locals will help you to find it. There’s a cute herbal store as well as one of the cutes book stores right next to the main square.

Val D’Orcia SAN QUIRICO D’ORCIA

San Quirico D’Orcia is the next village next to Bagno Vignoni. We took a relaxed morning walk there. The most beautiful street is the Via Poliziano. Take a stroll through this relaxing cities. There are lots of beautiful sights, e.g. the Horti Leonini, which is a beautiful Italian garden.

Val D’Orcia MONTALCINO

The medieval village lies on top of the hill and has some charming little alleys. I recommend to climb up the Fortress of Montalcino where you can get the perfect view onto the village.

Val D’Orcia PIENZA

Unfortunately we caught the worst weather ever while in Pienza. Snow in Tuscany is so rare. On the other hand, also beautiful to discover it that way. Always looking at the bright sight. In Pienza you should visit the beautiful Duomo of Pienza. Moreover, have a stroll through the Piccolomini gardens and visit the Palazzo Vescovile.

MONTERIGGIONI

Ok, I’ve just realised that Monteriggioni isn’t located in Val D’Orcia. However, it’s such a cute village to visit. Monteriggioni is famous for its city walls which you can have a walk around and enjoy the view on the wide Tuscan landscape.
