BaliDiary5. After our first temple visit in the South we drove northwards from Seminyak to Tanah Lot. On our way we passed the loud and noisy Kerobokan and drove through the quieter landscape seeing beautiful rice fields and small villages. When you arrive at the temple you need to go through the little touristic village around Tanah Lot before seeing the actual monument. The view onto it from the top was far better than from the bottom. Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to visit and climb onto it. After being blessed with water from the cave and lotus flowers you can step on the first five steps. I’ve to admit that the view from the upper platform was more beautiful. The scenery might look so beautiful in the evening when the sun sets.

On our way home we drove again through the beautiful rice fields and went off from the main street to go to the seaside. Luckily, we found a desert beach with black sand where we relaxed a few hours under the palms and watched the cows grazing.

Bali look. After six super relaxing days on Gili Air we arrived in Kuta on Lombok today. I already miss the blue water, wonderful sunsets and especially the easy and inexpensive lifestyle on the island. The post will be up soon! Apparently, the beaches in Kuta like Mawun and Mawi are even more beautiful than on the Gili Islands and I am curious to see if it was true.

But let’s get back to Bali and Seminyak now. Coming to Seminyak I realized that the South was the perfect place to get used to Balinese foo and the traffic, which is so much worse in the bigger cities. And compared to the easy surfer’s life in the South Seminyak for example is so different – one stylish café and boutique next to the other. It would have been food and shopping heaven for me – unless we were travelling for a month and being tight on our budget. But once in a while we are allowed to spoil ourselves. Via Josephine’s wonderful pictures on Instagram of her last trip to Bali I discovered this marvellous bar&restaurant SARDINE in Seminyak. Still thinking about that delicious rasperry mint ice tea and those crispy chips. The setting was perfect for a little outfit shoot. As we drove quite far to the Tanah Lot temple I preferred protecting my arms from sunburning with my long-sleeved lace top and matching white ‚Raffalleo‘-hat. Didn’t think about my legs, though.

BaliDiary1. Balangan Beach was a 20 minutes ride from our stay and is a famous surf spot. I’ve never tried surfing but may try it sometime. We rented some umbrellas and hid in the shadow as we didn’t want to burn ourselves the first days already. After a long day at the beach we had headed down to Bingin Beach for a fish BBQ. So nice to eat with your toes in the sand and feel the sea breeze. Against what everybody said Bali’s nights are quite freezy now in September. As long as it gets hot in during the day I am not complaining.

BaliDiary2. There are so many temples in Bali and I am looking forward to the ones in the hinterlands. Our first temple visit was Pura Luhur Uluwatu which lies in the South of Bali with an impressive scenery. From our homestay it was about 20 minutes away. The parking fee costs around 1000 RP, whilst the temple entrance costs 3000 RP.

For the first time in my life I saw some monkeys. At the beginning they were quite sweet but of one those sneaky monkeys stole and scratched my bf’s sunglasses. So beware of all kings of glasses and better store them in your bag!

Overall the temple itself is nothing spectacular but the view is overwhelming – cliffs, sea, sunshine. I recommend going there around 5pm to have time to visit and enjoy the beautiful sunset at the end. Also, there is a traditional dance at 6pm everyday.

BaliDiary1. Can’t believe how fast the first week passed. After our one-night stop at Singapur we finally headed down to Bali. Some friends stayed in Bingin Beach in the South of the island and we joined them for a couple of days. We decided to take it calmer in the beginning before we start to explore Bali.

We stayed at Susie Beach Inn at Bingin Beach which I can highly recommend. The rooms cost around 26€/night, there’s a big swimming pool and Susie prepares you food around the clock. People in Bali are so nice and trustful. I can also recommend you the neighbor-hotel Kembang Kuning  Homestay which costs around 40€/night and has a beautiful infinity pool as you can see on the pictures. There are a lot of homestays down at the beach but it is better to stay on top of the cliffs for mosquito reasons.
