Ciao Firenze!

A long weekend in Tuscany organized by the stunning hotel Posta Marcucci in Bagno Vignoni! You can imagine how happy I was to be back in this beautiful region of Italy. When I got the trip’s program I spotted ‘an hour walk through Florence‘. Lucky us to spend a bit in this beautiful city I though. In fact, it nearly two years ago that I was there for the last time.

Unfortunately, our flight got delayed and we had to cancel the walk. Luckily, the hotel had the great idea to kick-off the long weekend with some Vino Santo and Cantuccini on the panorama terrace with view onto that Italian beauty. This trip couldn’t start better… more impressions will be up this week!

Can it get more stereotypical? A Cantuccino soaked in a sweet Vino Santo with this breathtaking view…

Asian restaurant in Berlin | Ryōtei 893 in Charlottenburg

Who is getting around Berlin’s gastronomy a little bit, doesn’t get around The Duc Ngo. He opens one cool restaurant concept after the other: His latest baby is Toki The White Rabbit. But that‘s for another post. I‘ve already been to most of Duc‘s restaurants now. Only Funky Fish and Cocolo Ramen are missing.

I’ve finally bade it to his stylish Japanese restaurant Ryōtei 893 in Charlottenburg. To get a table spontaneously is nearly impossible. In fact, I had booked our table already three weeks ago (for during the week!). The next available table on the weekend would‘ve been at the end of March.

The restaurant positiones itself unpretentiously to the busy Kantstr. Whilst searching for the entrance I walked by until I realized that I‘ve already passed it. Only a small sign with 893 indicates the entrance. When entering you‘ll be welcomed at the wardrobe and will be accompagnied to your table. The staff is a fresh mix of young and cool people. I absolutely loved it‘s laidback flair. Charlottenburg is known to be classic and posh but Duc‘s concept are definitely beaking out of it.

The interieur of Ryōtei 893 is quite dark. Along the window there are small tables for two whilst the long bar of heavy stone invites to have a drink there. Moreover, you‘ll be able to watch the cooks do their magic but also run the risk of getting a little bit fried.

We got a calmer table along the window. Whilst sneaking into the menu I was sipping my glass of Chardonnay while my comany drank an Asahi beer.

FOOD & DRINKS

The dishes are perfect to share. The menu is quite fish based but there are enough plates for the meat lovers. Don‘t be frightened of the prices as high quality fish costs a lot of money in Berlin. The waiter recommended the Black Cod (32€). We added another main course, one 6 piece sushi plate (20€) and two side dishes – Japanese mushrooms and Udon noodles.

The dish with the octopus was the perfect start. Perfectly balanced with some avocado, blanched tomatoes, cilantro and red onions.

Right after, the sushi platter followed. A variation of six different kinds of fresh fish. The sushi was great but way too expensive in my opinion. Lastly, the black cod along with the udon noodles and Japanese mushrooms were served. To be honest, I wasn‘t such a fan of the black cod as it was a little bit too overseasoned/marinated. And very prices! On the other hand I loved the udon noodles and mushrooms.

RÉSUMÉ

I loved the ambience and the service was quite good at Ryōtei 893. The price of the dishes is quite high like in all Dug Ngo restaurants. However, quality has its price and his guests appreciate that. I‘d definitely come back for a special occasion.

Have a wonderful Friday!

Them red velvet boots

A quick look today. I’m on my way to Tuscany for the weekend. In case you’ve missed my latest post here you’ll find all the details of my travel plans for the first half of 2018! While it’s all sunny in Berlin I was hoping for some good weather in Tuscany too. Unfortunately, it’s going to rain the whole weekend. Calls for some wellness days!

My last weekend was very relaxed and I was stopping with Nadine shortly at the riverside at Märkisches Viertel. It reminded me so much of Paris. Well, there is still so much to discover in Berlin. Seeing this look, I feel like wearing Christmas leftovers. But these velvet boots are too cool not to wear after Christmas. And (luckily) winter is not over yet. Always with me these days – my warm down padded jacket from Duvetica, which was so worth the money. I absolutely love its slim fit. Speaking of, right now is a good moment to get the latest winter sale deals. All brands of my favorite jackets offer up to 60% on their websites directly. Definitely a good deal if you’re considering to invest in a good piece.

My travel plans for the first half of 2018

Gosh, time runs by so quickly. The past years I was always as busy as a bee to publish my travel wishes for the upcoming year right away. Not this year. Since I’ve started a new job in autumn it’s a little harder to realize all my travel wishes. But it’s not impossible. Therefore, I thought it might be more realistic to already share with you what I’ve got planned for the first half of the year.

VAL D’ORCIA
Tuscany, Italy

02/22 – 02/25

Bagno Vignoni was one of my happy places for a whole summer. I worked there at age 16 for two months. Three friends of mine worked there too and we had such a good time. Later, I returned to the tiny village, which is famous for its termal baths when my brother worked there too four years later. Now I will be back and I’m going to explore the surrounding region. As you can imagine I couldn’t be happier to be back in this beautiful region of Tuscany. I’ll stay at Albergo Posta Marcucci which also has a starred chef.

ROME
Italy

03/09 – 03/11

I’ve accidentally booked a trip to Rome two months earlier than actually planned. To be honest, I’ve been being super bad at booking tickets lately (booked another wrong one last week). Originally, I wanted to join a friend in May. Luckily my best friend will probably join me and I’m happy so see my aunt again who lives there. My last time in Rome was exactly two years ago. I just love that city!

Marbella
Malaga, Spain

02/16 – 02/18

I’ve been following a couple of blogger who live in Marbella and I can’t wait to visit that part of Spain. Also, I love to travel outside the season where it is a lot calmer. Moreover, I hope for lots of sunshine which Berlin definitely lacks of. I’ll be staying at Amàre Marbella Beach Hotel, which is a beautiful seaside hotel. Can’t wait to breathe in some salty air and some vitamin ‘Sea’!

South Tyrol
Italy

03/30 – 04/02

Easter at home. I haven’t been back home since Christmas. I’m excited to see my family and friends again. Hopefully there is still enough snow to go skiing. I’m thinking of taking another day off and drive back to Berlin when the streets are much emptier. The roads on Easter are always so crowded.

Here you’ll find some impressions from South Tyrol!

skifahren in südtirol, skifahren reinswald

Wow. I haven’t got anything planned in April so far. Will have to change that! I thought of flying to London for a weekend to visit friends. We’ll see

FETHIYE/MUGLA
Turkey

05/10 – 05/13

Ahh Turkey… A lot of you may be sceptical of travelling there. But like I always say ‘It can happen anywhere’. I’ve gotten an invitation to test the Hillside Beach Club in Turkey. It’s not yet confirmed but I though I’d mentioned it.

Language Holiday to TOKIO
Japan

05/26 – 06/10

OMG, I am so excited to be back in Tokio. For two whole weeks! Julia and I will participate in a language holiday together with EF. Can’t wait to learn more about the Japanese language culture which fascinated me so much.
