How could I save these pictures forever? These are probably some of my favorites in a while. I see that now because I’d just cut my hair shorter back then. Oh and that red dress is definitely such an eye-catcher! Although I’m trying not to buy anything from cheap brands, I’m absolutely in love with this one from H&M. I’m not sure if they still have it! Anyways… Just a quick post today. I’ve got lots of work to do before I’ll head down to Lago di Garda for a couple of days.
To be honest, I didn’t want to write this article. Due to the fact that I’ve already shown you some glimpses of Karpathos, there is no way back. Karpathos has never been on my list – now I know why I should’ve never gone there! Here are 10 reasons to visit Karpathos ten things I hated about Karpathos…
I mean, we could’ve just swum to the dream bays. Or just pretend for then being rescued and brought to the closest bay. I hated not to have a boat license to explore the island on our own. The swimming pool blue water was a dream and I wanted to jump into the water all the time.
… too many small cute villages
Olympus, Diafani, Lefkos, Arkassas – there are too many idyllic villages to choose where to stay.
Menetes up in the mountains
… the serpentine roads
I love to drive – even more on curvy streets! Driving on bumpy roads with a small car – not a good idea! Euromoto Karpathos should’ve given us a jeep instead. Of course, all the small and cute bays were located at the end of rough roads. Good thing is that Amandine was able to exercise her manual transmission skills while I tried to be patient. Nonetheless, I think I was a good teacher!
… not being able to buy some land on Karpathos
I just don’t understand why Karpathos is still a secret spot in Greece. Unfortunately, the Karpathians already know that their island is going to be hyped a lot within a couple of years. Therefore, it’s not so easy to find some land for a reasonable price. We’ll come back in October / November to look for more land. I hate that this island is going to rob all our money!
… Greek food all day long
Karpathian cheese, Makarounes,Greek salad, the dry bread with tomatoes and salad, tsatsiki and delicious goat meat … I know that I would look like a Greek goddess after some weeks. Well, good thing is that the ideal of beauty is different in Greece. Greek men love curves!

… doing sport on the island
Especially the South of Karpathos is a popular spot for sport-addicted people. The wind is stronger here and you’ll find many windsurfers on the water. The neighbor bays are also perfect for kitesurfing. My times of just laying on the beach are definitely over. Active vacations are on now! A bike tour of several hours at dawn was great. I loved sitting on the mountain bike again after several years. I hate that Karpathos has so many more great mountain bike trails to discover.
I started to drink more coffee again in Greece. Especially on hot days, the Greek love to drink everything iced. I loved to start the morning with a refreshing Cappuccino Freddo or Latte Macchiato Freddo. However, I hate the fact that I now try to explain at every bar how I’d like my Cappuccino Freddo – just like in Greece.
… people are too friendly
The people we’ve met were all so nice that it made it even harder to leave the island. No wonder that people come back here all the time. I fear that we’ve also got into the ban of Karpathos.
beautiful bay on Saria
… we had to say goodbye!
Unfortunately, the island is quite too far to go there every weekend. From Munich, you’ll have to fly over Athens with Aegean. On the other hand, I can fly directly from Verona when I’m in Bolzano. One more reason to buy some land there!
beautiful evening atmosphere in Olympos
Well, that was it: 10 reasons to visit Karpathos 10 things I hated about Karpathos. I shouldn’t have written this article. Karpathos should’ve stayed a secret spot! A much more detailed post about where to stay, where to eat and which beaches to go to will be online next time!
I wish you a wonderful day!
Ps.: Please excuse my irony! 10 reasons to visit Karpathos
Finding a great lunch spot in the old town of Munich is not so easy. As much as I love the traditional Bavarian restaurants in Munich, most of them are way too touristic nowadays. But we’re quite far from traditional German food today, so let’s head to the Orient – the great The Spice Bazaar on Square Marstallplatz.
Restaurants in Munich The Spice Bazaar
Heavy wooden tables, golden lamps and colorful walls. The open space of The Spice Bazaar reminds me of some chic restaurants in New York. I’m absolutely in love with the design itself. However, I wouldn’t think of an oriental restaurant when coming here. Nevertheless, the concept says oriental, Mediterranean with a twist of traditional interpretation of food. One thing is sure: the restaurant enriches Munich’s gastronomy!

The Spice Bazaar Drinks & Food
One of my friends suggested the restaurant for lunch, so we combined it with a little business meeting. Speaking of which, The Spice Bazaar offers a light and uncomplicated business lunch each day. On the menu, you’ll find a variation of oriental salads, either vegetarian (10,50€) or with fish and meat (15,50€). Moreover, you’ll find a daily changing soup (7,50€) or manti filled with a potato-chard filling (12,50€). I went for a salad variation of three with eggplants, lentils and beans, which was very good. The manti were a little bit too salty but I still recommend them.
Good thing here is also that they only serve organic meat and eggs. If you’re more interested about where their products come from, you’ll find the information on the menu.
Brunch recommendation: The Spice Bazaar offers a great weekend brunch – nutty fattoush, Bazaar roastbeef, oriental graved salmon, shakshuka, hamshuka and more. Sounds super delicious, right? I’ll have to try that next time.

The Spice Bazaar RÉsumÉ
The Spice Bazaar is a great choice for a relaxing dinner. Keep in mind that the restaurant is always super packed in the evening. Therefore, I highly recommend to book a table in advance. If fancying only a drink at the bar, I can tell that their orientalic-style choice of cocktails also sounded inviting. I’ll definitely come back here for dinner and drinks!
Rezept CONCHIGLIE MIT ZUCCHINI-KAPERN-SARDELLEN-CREME
