EN – ChinaDay22. After two weeks on-the-go nonstop we came quite exhausted back to the capital for another three days. I couldn’t believe how tired we were and none of us was interested in more sightseeing. Note to ourselves: take a few days off in between while travelling longer.
The weather was still warm enough to wear my favorite tunic top from Romwe in Beijing. I wore it almost non-stop on our trip as I’d decided to bring only my trolley with me on our trip and left the rest of my clothes in the city. But was happy to have more choice when we got back. And my Berenice jeans just suit perfectly with the tunic top. Lucky me I’d also brought my purple suede BCBG heels. Bummer, the hot summer days are over now!

DE – ChinaTag22. Nach unserer zwei-wöchigen Rundreise sind wir erschöpft in die Haupstadt zurückgekehrt. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass non-stop-Reisen so an unserer Energie zehrt. Von Sightseeing hatten wir mal vorerst genug. Notiz an uns: zwischedrin einen Ruhetag einlegen, wenn wir wieder länger reisen.
Das Wetter in Peking war warm genug, um noch kurzärmelig rumzulaufen. Auf unserer Rundreise hatte ich nur meine Trolley mitgebracht und mich auf wenige Teile beschränkt. In Peking zurückgekehrt war ich dann aber froh, über die größere Auswahl. Dieses Tunik-Top hatte ich non-stop getragen und passt auch perfekt zu meiner Bérenice-Jeans und BCBG Wildledersandalen. Schade, dass die warmen Sommertage vorbei sind.

Foodhopping in Beijing Pt. II

Foodhopping.Wir haben so viele unterschiedliche Kochrichtungen ausprobiert und hatte mich gefreut nach Peking zurückzukehren, um nochmal eine kulinarischen Höhepunkt zu erleben. Außerdem stand die Pekingente noch immer auf unserer Essensliste. Im Reiseführer wurde sie hochgepriesen. Die Ente an sich war schon lecker, aber nicht ein Gericht, das ich ständig essen konnte. Da bevorzuge ich die sichuanische Küche mit ihren frischen, geschmacksintensiven und scharfen Zutaten um einiges mehr. Natürlich verschlug es uns nochmals in ein sichuanisches Lokal, wo wir reichlich geschlemmt haben. Zusammenfassend muss ich sagen, dass wir nicht einmal schlecht gegessen hatten. Und zur Zeit ist es grad komisch, mal nicht mehr Nudeln oder Rindssuppe zu frühstücken. Man gewöhnt sich immer viel zu schnell an alles!

EN – Nightlife. Shanghai is pretty exciting during the day but even better by night. I got some great recommendations from some friends and ticked them off one by one. The Roof at Waterhouse was a little insider-tipp where we enjoyed some happy hour drinks. The design of the hotel and rooftop are simply amazing, so is the service and cocktails. Another must-do is to go to Bar Rouge for drinks, which has a great rooftop with view onto Shanghai’s skyline. Overall, the club is quite posh and you’ll meet every age of people. Of course, this varies from night to night. Next on was the underground club The Shelter, where we enjoyed the best electronic music. My favorite! You should check beforehand whether they’re playing electronic music or hip-hop. I loved this Berlin-style one! Apparently, most of the people drive down to Hollywood club for an after-party. It is a commercial club, but perfect for dancing away the night until sunrise. Moreover, my friend recommended a Chinese club 77 or Baba, how it is known among Chinese. Also, they are playing some great live-music at the Woodenbox where you should come a little bit earlier to get some tables where they are playing or book in advance. Well, Shanghai never sleeps.

DE – Nightlife. Shanghai war schon aufregend genug tagsüber und wurde nachts noch besser. Ein Freund hatte uns vorher schon ein paar tolle Tipps gegeben. Besonders gefreut hatte ich mich auf die Terasse The Roof at Waterhouse – geniales Designkonzept mit toller Betonarchitektur. Die Cocktails waren sehr lecker und das Personal super freundlich. Wir waren begeistert! Außerden muss man mal in der Bar Rouge gewesen sein, von dessen Dachterasse man einen genialen Blick auf die Stadt hat. Der Club ist sehr edel und trifft auf jede Altersklasse, was aber auch von Abend zu Abend verschieden ist. Zu richtig guten Elektro oder Hip-Hop tanzt man im Berlin-angehauchten The Shelter – mein persönlicher Favorit. Ihr könnt euch zuvor informieren, welche Richtung sie spielen. Die After-party findet anscheinend im Hollywood statt, wo wir die Nacht ausklingen lassen haben. Der Club ist sehr kommerziell und auch von Chinesen gut besucht. Falls ihr in einen richtigen chinesischen Club gehen wollt, dann ab ins 77 oder on den Chinesen auch Baba genannt. Live-Musik gibt es in der Woodenbox, wo ihr am Besten früh kommt oder reserviert. Anscheinend schläft Shanghai nie!

EN – ChinaDay19-21. Shanghai is definitely a city where I could live for a while. I wanted to show you more pictures from the city but my memory card broke and I lost all the pictures. That’s always the worst thing that can happen to you while travelling.
We explored Shanghai mostly on feet – at least the first day when we recognized how far the distances are. Never, never underestimate distances in metropoles! The French Concession was the perfect place for a little shopping that I urgently needed because I ran out of clothes toward the end. Afterwards, we enjoyed the most beautiful view from Le Royal Meridien onto the city and its skyline. A friend of mine recommended us going there instead of going to Pudong. Pudong is a modern and lively part of Shanghai, which holds one of the cities landmarks – the Oriental Pearl Tower. I was also quite impressed by those huge shopping malls. On the other hand, I definitely prefer little shopping streets. Well, overall I fell a bit for the city and tomorrow I am showing you a little bit of Shanghai’s nightlife.

DE – ChinaTag19-21. In Shanghai könnte ich mir auch vorstellen zu wohnen, die Stadt hat mich auf irgendeine Weise sehr beeindruckt. Leider habe ich nicht so viele Bilder, da meine Speicherkarte kaputt gegangen ist und ich viele verloren habe. Das ist wirklich das Schlimmste, was einem auf der Reise passieren kann.
Am ersten Tag haben wir Shanghai fast nur zu fuß entdeckt – wir haben wieder einmal die Distanzen unterschätzt. Unterschätzt nie nie nie Distanzen in einer Großstadt! Wir sind im French Concession-Viertel rumspaziert und ein bisschen shoppen gegangen. Das Wetter war gut genug und so hatten wir eine einigermaßen klare Sicht auf die Stadt vom Le Royal Meridien aus. Ein Freund von mir hatte mir empfohlen dorthin zu gehen, anstatt in das touristische Pudong und auf den berühmten Oriental Pearl Tower. Am Größten sind hier eindeutig die Shoppingmalls. Vom architektonischen Aspekt sind sie zwar interessant, aber ich bevorzuge kleine Shoppingstraßen mit kleinen Boutiquen.
Wie gesagt, hat mir die Stadt besonders gut gefallen und morgen zeige ich euch Shanghais Nachtleben!
