Some favorite scents for spring / summer

Scents for spring/summer. Well, that was a long time without any beauty post. I’ve become such a perfume lover! Here I march to a different drummer in our family – my mom has been wearing her Jean Paul Gaultier since always and my aunt sticks to her Chanel Nr. 5. That is probably why my love for scents came really late with my job at the duty free section at the airport. Of course, I had to test them all!

With the time I realized that you really smell if the scent is made out of excellent ingredients. If there is a brand behind that has a long history with creating perfumes. And much more. Of course, the better the ingredients the more expensive the scent is.

Here are three different scents that you don’t want to miss this spring/summer…

The Golden Bun | München Modeblog, German Fashion Blog, Fashionblogger, new trends

Etro Shantung

Shantung is the newest scent from Etro, which is available in stores since April. A fine oriental scent with a floral touch. It tells the story of nomadic tribes in far orient. The flacon is inspired by the pattern of Shantung-silk.

Missoni Missoni

The new Missoni by Missoni scent is dedicated to a sensual and exuberant woman. I love all floral scents, which is why I love this strong one with beautiful maholia, petalia and sambac jasmine so much. Thus it stays super fresh, slightly fruity and woody. It was created by perfumer Quentin Bisch.

Odin Milieu Rosa

Shame on me that I didn’t know this wonderful perfume brand Odin New York. It kicks off the new year with the wonderful The White Line including three amazing scents, whereof I am currently wearing Milieu Rosa every day. The scent makes you feel like you dive into one huge blooming rose. The absolute rose! Who wouldn’t want to wear that? It was created by perfumer Jean Claude Delville of Drom. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the packaging, which is tenderly created (you can see it on the link below!).

Perfect spring jacket. During springtime it is always difficult to dress. In the morning it is super cold and it gets hotter during the day. Most of the times I’m carrying heavy jacket and trenches with me that I’ve decided to get myself a nice light down padded jacket from JOTT. The brand has various models in all kinds of colors. JOTT = just over the top, isn’t the brand’s name great? The best part about it is that it fits in a small bag and I can carry it in any bag. I’ve been wearing it non stop during the last weeks – in Barcelona it was super handy and kept me warm when the wind was blowing, likewise during my trip to Croatia.

Here I combined it to a pair of leather leggins and a lace up pullover. Also, I love this snakeprint accessories – a hobo bag and lace up ballet pumps. The bag is so handy and you can use both ways turning it simply around.

LIFEUPDATE

After all my wonderful city trips and travels I was so relieved to spend a weekend back home. Most of my trips are already online but a lot more follow. If you’ve lost the thread I was in Rome, Paris, Barcelona, Hamburg, in the South of Croatia and in Mallorca. As much as I’ve enjoyed all of this, I was happy to be back home. To cook all weekend long, which I haven’t done for nearly two months now and most important of all to spend time with my love.

Wish you a wonderful Sunday!

#thegoldenbunontour | Barcelo Raval – where to stay in Barcelona

Barcelo Raval Barcelona hotels, where to stay in Barcelona, nice hotel in barcelona rooftop in barcelona
EN

Barcelo Raval. Oh Barcelona! My friends and I enjoyed a wonderful stay in this beautiful city! Of course, also thanks to our accommodations. We checked into the Barcelo Raval on our second day. Usually, it is quite difficult to find rooms for three people. Most of the times the rooms are simply too small to add a third bed. This wasn’t a problem here!

The hotel is located in the trendy district Raval, which enjoyed a massive upturn in the last decades. Originally, it was a quite poor district with a high rate of criminality. The city Barcelona invested a lot of redesigning work to make it more livable and especially safer. New social institutions as well as a film academy were built, and among others also the new Barcelo Raval in 2007. It is a quite modern building whose architecture attracts attention instantly.

Barcelo Raval Our Room

We had our superior room on the 10th floor. We immediately noticed the HUGE king size bed. All three of us could have easily slept in this bed. The rollaway bed looked so small in comparison. The room itself has a very open design, but, personally, I felt a lack of privacy in the bathroom. Of course, this was not a problem being just us three girls, but it reminded me of China, where I went on a trip with a friend. There was just no privacy at all. The view from the rooms is amazing and on our second day the sun was shining already in the morning.

Unfortunately, we were a bit unlucky with the air conditioning. Due to the outline of the room, it was not possible to open any window and without the air conditioning we would have suffocated. But this made loud, unpleasant noises during the night; that’s why we woke up a few times. We did report the problem at the reception but even the technician wasn’t able to do anything. Without the noise we would probably have slept even better!

The Barcelo Rival has got 182 rooms in total, thereof 4 suites.

Superior Room (25m2) starting from 166€ (complementary bed is free)

Barcelo Raval The suite

I was able to sneak a peek into a suite during a small tour of the hotel; the suite is double the size of our room! In general, the outlines of the rooms are the same on all floors. Just the floor defines the price! All rooms on the lower floors have a kettle, on the higher floors there are Nespresso machines. But this really doesn’t matter for me as a non-coffee drinker. I think the view is worth it to book a higher floor, although the best view of all offers the roof terrace.

Barcelo Raval The breakfast

I could so get used to hotel breakfasts! By then, I had already been on the road for 4 days and the breakfast buffets were more or less all the same. I always started the day with a scrambled egg, croissant, fresh fruit and bread. In comparison to other hotels the Barcelo Raval offered also tasty waffles and churros (that would have been too much for me in the morning).

The hotel opens its doors to the public on Sundays – you can brunch from noon to 4pm. The brunch costs 25 € and you can enjoy it in the restaurant or on the 360° terrace. Find more information here.

Barcelo Raval The terrace

What a beautiful thing such a roof terrace! It was already warm enough to enjoy a few sunny moments. We had been walking so much through the city that we were exhausted on our last day. Therefore, the terrace with its amazing 360° view of Barcelona was exactly what we needed.

Barcelo Raval The design

The futuristic hotel is a real eye catcher in its neighborhood. You don’t see a round cylinder with a steel curtain wall very often. Inside, the hotel is furnished in a modern minimalistic way with special design elements and some colorful highlights.

If you want to quickly discover the city, you can hire a scooter in front of the hotel. It costs 30 € for a day. The hotel also offers bicycles.

For me the Barcelo Raval scores with its location and the roof terrace. The design is exceptional but maybe not everybody’s taste. I like that the rooms are furnished in a clean way. Otherwise everything would have been a bit too much.

Barcelona Food Guide 10 restaurants & bars to try

Barcelona Food Guide, Wave Restaurant W Hotel Barcelona, barcelona food, eating in Barcelona, restaurant guide for Barcelona,
Barcelona Food Guide. Finally, here comes my favorite post from Barcelona: the foodguide. Since it was my first time in Barcelona, I have been looking at various blog for good restaurants for weeks. I didn’t have any orientation in the city, which is why I’ve created a Google Map and marked all the good ones. Moreover, we hadn’t planned anything for our stay. Therefore, the map was super handy because it was easy to see which restaurants where nearby. Luckily, a friend of a friend accompanied us a bit and was also a foodie. He writes the blog focusing on meals under 15€ (unfortunately, only in Spanish but pictures and the addresses will help). If I’d known that he had a blog I could’ve skipped all my research.

Barcelona Food Guide | Starting off at Wave Restaurant

Unfortunately, all rooms were booked at the W Hotel Barcelona. But I was still interested in seeing the hotel, which is why we decided to spend our first lunch there –the perfect start of our girl’s trip. At least, it should have been. But we all had massive flight delays and the third one of us arrived super late in the afternoon. However, something to eat was waiting for her.

The Wave Restaurant spoiled us a lot. For a starter, we ordered a variation of Tapas (a must when in Spain), which went so well with our rosé wine. We ordered two dishes to share: a tuna tatar on an avocado cream and summer rolls with prawns. As soon as my friend had arrived she ordered the octopus, which looked delicious. A sweet final was served and even though we were super full, we couldn’t resist. I highly recommend having lunch at the Wave Restaurant.

Barcelona Food Guide | Brunch at Granja petitbo

On our second day we drove to Parc Güell and walked back into the city. My map was super useful to find a place to eat and we bumped into Granja Petitbo. Barcelona is full with great blogger-restaurants and cafés (that’s not meant in a negative way at all, I think that blogger have great recommendations most of the times. Thank you at this point!). Some would call it a hipster place. There is to say that the whole healthy, vegetarian and vegan food scene has been growing a lot in Barcelona. There are so many different places right now compared to years ago.

I’m a huge fan of Granja Petitbo – a cozy café/restaurant, where you can brunch, have lunch or just have a drink. There are daily dishes and the juices are fabulous (take the big one, though. You’ll get more for your money!). We ordered Nachos for a start, followed by a Caesar Salad, a quinoa dish and Egg Benedict. The other dishes looked really delicious too. Ours were amazing! The interior of the restaurant is super cozy and definitely one of my favorites so far.

Barcelona Food Guide | Best paella at Arenal Restaurant

Good tapas, a healthy restaurant, drinking Sangria and a delicious paella were on my food list. Luckily, Albert recommended Arenal Restaurant as one of the best paellas in town. He also told us that you’ll get a good paella starting from 18€, which was fine for us for once. We took a walk on the Barcelona beach and reached the restaurant, which is located right on the beach with a spacious terrace. You can also sit inside but it smelled a bit weirdly (if the weather is great, sit outside!).

We didn’t know that most of the times you pay more if you’re sitting outside on the terrace. Also here. We knew that they have various lunch menus and went for the gourmet menu. We picked a salmon tatar with avocado cream (the avocados were so good in Barcelona, every single time) followed by the paella as main dish. As dessert they had a fruity lemon sorbet. A glass of wine was included. In my opinion, the whole menu was a little bit too much for our appetite. The paella was huge and I highly recommend to order it for 2 persons instead of 3 (it will be enough and it is also less expensive). The paella itself was savory. The classic paella normally is a mix of meat and fish, which I also love a lot. Nonetheless, a lot of people prefer the seafood version much more. I’d missed the mix one here.

Barcelona Food Guide | More tapas at La Luna

Next point – tapas! On our first evening we went to La Luna in the Gothic neighborhood. The restaurant is great for having drinks and various tapas. The assortment is great, but the prices are a little bit higher than in a classic tapas bar. Still, the portions are big and satisfying. All in all, we paid around 17€ each including a Litre of Sangria.

Barcelona Food Guide | Tapas on a budget at Blai Tonight

As you can see we were spending a hell of a money on food but it was so worth it. However, we wanted to go to a real tapas bar one time and Albert had recommended going to Blai Tonight. Carrer de Blai is full with tapas bars but this one should’ve been the best one. You’ll find a lot of young people here having tapas and drinks. Blai Tonight offered a great selection of Tapas – some for 1€, others for 1,5€. You won’t be paying more here. It’s perfect to try different ones and we shared a couple. Compared to the much more expensive La Luna you’ll get 1,5 litre Sangria for the same price. In the end, we exit with around 10€ each, which is definitely a bargain.

Barcelona Food Guide | Dinner at Barcelo Raval hotel

Our Hotel Barcelo Raval invited us for dinner one evening. The breakfast was already really good, and we weren’t disappointed of our dinner. They organized a little menu for us, which included heavy Spanish food but served in small portions. It was all very delicious.

The Restaurant B-Lounge also offers a brunch open to the public on the weekends.

Unfortunately, we didn’t explore the Garcìa neighborhood a lot. A lively hub with restaurants and bars – best in the evening and at night. Albert brought us to this small bodega, where we had a little aperitif – some wine and a few tapas. We tried various croquetas this time, which were so good. I learned that croquetas aren’t made of potatoes, but get their consistence thanks to the béchamel sauce. Some were filled with meat, others with vegetables, e.g. pumpkin. Delicious! We drank a light white wine. Obviously, the aperitif was only the start of a long evening…

H&M Recycle Week.
