Those skirt days. Yessa! I’ve just written my second last exam of my university career. Now there are only one more exam on Monday and one paper on the agenda. From then on I will be on holiday until the beginning of April and I can’t wait for a little change!

Today I have a more relaxed look with my latest sale purches. This gorgeous leopard print skirt was waiting on the sale racks for me. I haven’t been at Promod for a while and they have so many lovely spring pieces. It’s definitely worth checking it our. The skirt has the perfect lenght for work and daily life in general. Moreover, this gorgeous sweater has been added too. I’ve already shown you this Marc O’Polo jacket in one of my last posts, which is the perfect spring jacket and can be worn beneath a warm coat these days. I know, I’ve already shown you these boots from Bruno Premi a zillion times but they are just the perfect pair of ankle boots. I wear them nearly every day which is why I had to bring them to the shoemaker a couple of weeks ago. I must say it’s so worth to get shoes repaired instead of throwing them away. With a little bit of shoe polish they looked like new afterwards!

Wish you a wonderful day!

Stripes & Scarf

I rarely wear stripes, which is probably why I love seeing them on others even more. Moreover, those Prada cateye sunglasses are so beautiful.

Cozy knit. Did your weekend also go by like a razor blade? Mine definitely did! I’ve been working on a couple of new posts during the weekend and had to study for my second last exam on Tuesday. My boyfriend and I have been ignoring Valentine’s Day really well. I hate such cheesy days! As I said, why do we need one special day to celebrate our love? Shouldn’t you do that every day?

Let’s speak about the outfit. I’ve been loving it quite relaxed lately. This has to do with going to work every day and moreover winter times are perfect to snuggle into comfortable wear. There’s no need to freeze especially when there are so many lovely sweaters on the market. I’ve become quite a Marc O’Polo lover! Although I find their pieces still super expensive but the quality is indeed great. I fell in love with this cozy oversize knit and I absolutely adore the color. Goes with nearly everything. Also, here is the second look with my new favorite distressed jeans from Tally Wjeil. Moreover, I have a feet of clay for Ted Baker shoes. Fortunately, I could restrain myself of buying high heels most of the times but these boots are definitely worth investing (also they’re on sale right now).

By the way, have you already entered my Pre-Valentine’s Day Giveaway? You can win a beauty set worth 250€ in collaboration with World Duty Free!

Wish you a evening!

Trumpf oder Kritisch. The Occamstraße and Feilitzstraße belong to my favorite streets in Munich. There are always lots of people there in the evening. I’ve recently passed a restaurant where I couldn’t see any sign on. On the menu outside there was ‘Hereinspaziert’ (German for come in). Restaurants usually have various names so I supposed that was it. I’ve been trying out a lot of new restaurants recently. Sometimes you need to spoil yourself a little bit. For me that would be eating! This time I met up with Conny and Irina at Münchner Freiheit and we walked to the unknown restaurant. Finally, when entering I spotted the real name – Trumpf oder Kritisch. No wonder I couldn’t find it on Yelp.

Trumpf oder Kritisch

Trumpf oder Kritisch is a newly opened pub with some cool decoration. Copper tubes with lights installed and antlers are hanging from the ceiling. The rest of the restaurant is filled with heavy wooden tables. One more detail which I like on the tables are the engravures of card motives. You can meet for a drink, or to eat for the hungry ones but also to play card games. As a matter of fact, you can play Watten, which is a Tyrolean card game that they also play a lot where I come from. A couple of groups where sitting next to us playing. I’m really bad at watten, which is why we decided to have some food.

Trumpf oder Kritisch EATING & DRINKS

Menus in traditional Bavarian restaurants are usually super long. This restaurant has manageable menu with typical dishes. You’ll find homemade Obazda, a cheese platter or bread dumplings with mushrooms. I chose the roast pork with bread and potatoe dumplings and red cabbage. Irina and Conny went for the lake trout with savoy cabbage and potatoes from the daily dishes. On the other hand the drinking card is way longer. Aperitifs cost 6,80€. Drinking prices are super high in Munich.

Unfortunately, I was a little bit disappointed of the food. My roast pork was delicious but the side dishes were good. I absolutely love red cabbage but it was chopped too roughly for my taste. The lake trout was nicely presented on the table but it was nothing special too. For fish and meat the prices are absolutely fine but it didn’t knock our socks off.

Even though the food wasn’t as good as expected I really like the whole concept and it’s a nice place for having drinks with friends. I’ll definitely come back for a couple of drinks and maybe I’ll give the food another chance.

A Winter’s Gold evening with Dalwhinnie Whiskey

Winter’s Gold.Last week I was invited by Dalwhinnie to Winter’s Gold Dinner at the Goldbergstudios. Some known Foodbloggers and one or two Fashionbloggers joined the party.
I was very curious, for I am not very well versed in whiskies and was particularly interested in learning more about their cocktail versions. Usually whisky has a very strong smoky savor, which one loves or hates. Moreover, Occam Deli Catering regaled us the whole evening with delicious food. The Occam Deli Restaurant in located in the Münchner Freiheit quarter and since long I had the intention to enjoy a meal there.

However, let us talk about the whisky first. A very special beverage that is mainly produced in Scotland. Whisky is produced from a grain mash and is aging at least three years in a wood barrel. That evening the invitation was extended by the Dalwhinnie brand having been in existence since 1897. The dinner theme party Winter’s Gold referred to the special brand Dalwhinnie Winter’s Gold, which is only distilled in the winter. The Worm Tubs are located outdoors, where whisky will chill faster, thus ensuring that it will interact less with the worm tubs’ copper, which improves its savor.

Dalwhinnie WINTER’S GOLD
FLAVOR

Pure, soft, fruity with honey, menthol and smoke

SAVOR

Honey and treacle, spicy note with mint

OUTFLOW

Soft, warming, raisins, dates, dark chocolate and sandalwood

Usually one drinks whisky on ice, also called ‘on the rocks’. Fitting to the winter theme the ice cubes were knocked off a huge ice chunk. I was also allowed to have a try. The easiest way is using a special ice saw, which is very advisable.

Dalwhinnie Cocktail OVER NIGHT

Dalwhinnie Winter’s Gold served with redcurrant sirup

Over Night Sirup
500ml redcurrant sirup
100ml raspberry puré
500gr sugar
1 vanilla bean
1 grated tonkabean
Boil and leave for 30 minutes. Sieve and fill in!

served with

Goat cheese Pavé, mushrooms with herbs, tamarillo, and black walnut.

Calamaretti, Garnelen-Papaya-Couscous. Kokos. Goji-Beeren-Erdnuss-Mojo

Calamaretti, shrimps. Papaya, couscous, coconut, goji berries, peanuts and mojo

One could choose amongst various cocktail variations as aperitif, whereof I liked the redcurrant syrup variation best. The evening got better and better and I got excited about the Occam Deli starter plate. A huge variety of different canapés, all of which were very delicious. My favorites were definitely the lobster-scallop-stick and the goat cheese pavé. Thereto whisky was served in a tumbler made of ice, which melted rather quickly and dropped on someone’s trousers. That was a super gag.

Dalwhinnie Cocktail SCOTCH & SODA

Dalwhinnie Winter’s Gold, rooibus soda water

served with

black halibut and fennel yuzu cream

Morcilla (Spanish blood sausage), quinoa shrimp and lovage.
Black salsify-red-beet-gratin, pear, blue-stilton-praline and black cumin.

Variations of Simmental beef. Kohlrabi polenta, black cabbage, roasted argan oil.

Served with the main course a somewhat more prickling variation with roibush soda water. Very delicious. As main course different variations of Simmental beef were offered. The steak was simply delicious and its flavour had already come now and then out of the kitchen before. Also very interesting the blue stilton praline to which the English mold cheese conveyed its strong taste. Finely fitting to it was the pear confit. Cheese agrees excellently with fruit.

Dalwhinnie SURPRISE COCKTAIL

Dalwhinnie Whisky Sour

served with

Served with white chocolate, peach and passion fruit
