Tokyo | The best breakfast places & coffeeshops

I can’t believe that there are still some Tokyo posts slumbering in my drafts. Tokyo has an incredibly great food scene. One evening I lay in bed jetlagged and started researching restaurants and cafes. At some point Julia just finds herself laughing, because again and again an “oh we A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y have to go there ” reached her from below (we slept in bunk beds).

It was the same with all the great cafés. Sometimes we only had our language course in the afternoon – perfect to start the morning with a hearty breakfast. Pancakes and Eggs Benedict are the only things you can do in Tokyo. The Japanese love American/French breakfast. The sweeter, the better!

Here are the best breakfast places in Tokyo you shouldn’t miss!

URASANDO GARDEN 裏参道ガーデン
Omotesando, Tokyo

Ursando Garden is known for his Matcha Tea/Latte/was-always. Unfortunately, we were there much too early, so that the Matcha Bar (from about 12:00) was not yet open. I can only warmly recommend the Pancakes to you. So nice and fluffy! Julia’s choice of chocolate and banana pancakes was excellent. My choice with Matcha and bean puree was just as good. Outside, the café offers two seats in the beautiful courtyard. Inside it is lovingly decorated in a modern Japanese style.

  • Urasando Garden is located in the middle of the lively Omotesando in Shibuya. Here you will find numerous designer shops, concept stores and many cafés. Urasando Garden is a bit off the beaten track that we didn’t find right away.

Aoyama Flower Market TEA HOUSE
Akasaka, Tokyo

Aoyama is a flower chain in Tokyo. The company has not only numerous shops but also one or two cafés. The interior couldn’t be more beautiful. We visited the Aoyama Flower Market Tea House in Akasaka. The café is very popular and I advise you to come early or reserve a table. We came as soon as the store opened and was full to bursting when we left.

In the Aoyama Flower Market Tea House there are delicious French toasts (which we couldn’t miss), pancakes and salads on the menu. The French toasts were incredibly tasty and can only recommend them to you.

  • Akasaka is one of the largest business districts in Tokyo. Especially during the week it is relatively crowded here.

CAFÉ KITSUNÉ
Omotesando, Tokyo

Café Kitsuné knows one or the other probably from Paris. The original café comes from Tokyo. It is a simple café with incredibly tasty coffee.

But what always bothered me about coffee shops in Japan was that they always offer plastic cups. The cafés don’t even have their own cups. So it’s best to bring a To-Go mug with you in Japan!

  • If you are in Paris, try the Sorbets – the best!

Hello March! The last days of winter

And whoops, we’re already in March! I always forget how short February actually is. No less exciting than the past months. In February I was on the road a lot on the weekends again – skiing in Laax (but now it’s enough with skiing #luxuryproblems). With my best friend I spent two days in South Tyrol “wellness”, as we say at home. We’ve ended the month with the Carnval in Cologne.

The weather is really making a fax at the moment. But last week it was sunny – perfect to shoot some looks. This pretty embroidered dress makes the transition to spring. I showed you this last in my Marrakesh vacation.

The Butcher – Burger & Milkshakes in Berlin Charlottenburg

The Butcher – tasty burgers and a cool ambiance are familiar to some from Amsterdam or Ibiza. Together with Amandine I tested The Butcher near Savigny Square.

Restaurant in Berlin
The Butcher

The Butcher is located on the ground floor of Sir Savigny, which is one of the Sir Hotels. Cool interiors can be found in Berlin’s restaurants. Inside, The Butcher resembles a butcher’s shop. White tiles and a heavy stainless steel counter in the middle. In the background, casual hip-hop. In front is the fast food restaurant, in the back rooms you can dine in the cosy lounge ambience of the Sir Savigny Hotel by a blazing fireplace.

  • From spring to autumn you can enjoy your food on the spacious terrace.

The Butcher
FOOD & DRINKS

In addition to classic burgers, The Butcher also serves a mix of Mexican specialities. We ordered a portion of beef tacos with tomato salsa (9,50€) and nachos with cheddar cheese, guacamole & fresh cheese (8,95€). The Beef Tacos were super tasty and I would order the next time absolutely again.

The burger meat is of the highest quality – Prime Aberdeen Angus beef or Prime New Zealand lamb. I like classic burgers with cheddar and bacon best, so of course I tried “The Daddy” (12,50€). Amandine took the “Truffle Burger” (11,00€). The burgers were juicy. The Truffle Burger could have had a bit more truffles, according to Amandine.

  • Burger prices range from 9,50€ – 12,50€
  • The lunch menu, burgers + fries + drinks, costs 12€

Finally, you can treat yourself to a hearty milkshake. There wouldn’t have been any place left for that. As you can see, we rolled home afterwards. Many thanks for the invitation, The Butcher! We’d love to come back for brunch!

Now is the best time to buy ski clothing!

Slowly the ski season is coming to an end. This year Colmar equipped me with new ski clothing, which I tested extensively during the weekend in Laax. In today’s ski look I wear my new Space Race ski jacket from Colmar (currently 30% off!!) together with a white onesie from Colmar. The onesie is a midlayer that you can wear as ski underwear. I asked you on Instagram if I could wear it just as well without ski pants. I just wasn’t sure if the material was waterproof. On warmer days at the end of the season, it’s definitely a good choice. How do you like my ski look (of course I always wear a helmet – but it looks stupid on photos!)?

After a long time I have also fulfilled a ski goggle dream. The Oakley Flight Deck with Prizm glass recently landed in my shopping cart. At Planet Sports there was another 10% on all reduced goods, which of course I couldn’t miss (Payback points on top). I am curious whether the glasses are just as good. In the end I decided to use the “bad weather/cloudy” lenses because I can see very well with my Atomic ski goggles in good weather.
