Towards the end of the year I still don’t know whether 2018 was a good year or not. On the one hand, I’ve learned so much this year. On the other hand, there were certain things that have blocked me all year round.
On behalf of my travels I can look back on wonderful memories. Compared to 2017 I traveled 80% privately in 2018. I refused a lot of press trips, because every day of my holiday was worth a lot, which I wanted to spend with friends and family (the limited number of vacation days is clearly a downside of working full-time). The trips in the second half of the year were relatively spontaneous and were mostly shorter week-end trips. Finally, I was able to relax on our Marrakesh trip, which really felt like a real vacation.
In July I flew with my girl friends from home to Ibiza. We had such a fun time on the island. Ibiza has definitely enchanted us in any case and I want to go back next summer to discover more of it.
A weekend on Lake Garda is always a must (mainly to visit my dad). Unfortunately, I only managed to fly down for a long weekend this year, which was clearly too short. Hopefully, there will be more times at Lago di Garda next year.
The weekend trip to Mallorca came relatively spontaneously. The best weekend of the year! It was all so perfect and calls for another weekend next year.
My co author Irina flew to the Baltic Sea in September and visited the ARBOREA Marina Resort Neustadt. Unfortunately, I have not made it to the North or Baltic Sea all summer long. And it’s only a three hours drive from Berlin.
LONDON Great Britain
12.10 – 14.10
I haven’t been to London in ages. Finally, I managed to visit close university friends and combine it with a little birthday trip. The weekend was amazing.
A weekend in South Tyrol in autumn is always a must. Especially because we hold my annual birthday celebrations there (yes I love to celebrate that). In autumn South Tyroleans celebrate the special “Törggelen”, which comes close to Thanksgiving celebrations. You can read more about it here!
Since leaving Munich for good I haven’t really visited it much this year. A close friend of mine celebrated her birthday and of course I would drive down for that. The weekend was beautiful – a late afternoon at Starnbergersee, a dinner at my favorite Indian place in Munich and a walk in the English Garden.
My girl friends and I had some spare holiday left and decided to fly to a warm destination once again. Marrakesh was just right – the distance and the temperatures. The new posts are still in progress, so I’m not going to spoil you with new pictures. Marrakech was as per usual a dream. Look forward to the new posts and tips!
TEGERNSEE Bavaria, Germany

Right now I’m writing from the beautiful DAS TEGERNSEE at Tegernsee. I have another two weeks of holidays, which are perfect for two days of relaxation in the beautiful wellness area. More pictures will follow.

Do you already have plans for 2019? I haven’t. I’ll definitely use my Christmas break for it now. In 2019 I would definitely like to do another longer trip. Who knows where…
Berlin is an amazing place for having Asian food. I love to meet up for dinner on Kantstraße for example, which is probably the hotspot for Asian cuisine in the capital. However, it’s not that easy to find authentic places. Most of the Thai or Japanese restaurants aren’t run by people from that nationality. Thai restaurants are run by Vietnamese people and vice versa.
Also, the beautiful summer days at the Thai Park in Wilmersdorf are now over. I really enjoyed going there on Sundays this summer. To me it is definitely one of the most authentic spots to eat Thai food in Berlin.
For the colder winter days I highly recommend Papaya on Kantstraße, which is a great address for authentic Thai kitchen. They have a few more restaurants but allegedly the one at “Berlin’s China Town” is the most authentic spot.
A couple of more great Asian restaurant on Kantstraße:
Papaya serves tasty dishes from the Isaan region, the northeastern part of Thailand. The small restaurant offers a good selection of tasty and freshly prepared dishes for a relatively low price. Especially all Thai curry lovers will get on their taste. I highly recommend the lunch offer.
Recommended dishes:
Hot pot with yellow curry, tofu, potatoes, pineapple and onions in coconut milk
Matsaman curry with chicken, peanuts, potatoes and onions

As-salam alaykom from Marrakech! I couldn’t be happier to be back in sunny Marrakech for five days. An escape from Berlin was definitely needed! A quick hello from my side while I’m relaxing by the pool at the incredibly beautiful Dar Ayniwen garden hotel & bird zoo. We’re already here since Friday evening and I definitely have a lot to share with you from our experience this time. Here’s a little recap from the things we saw during our first visit two years ago.
I’m also uploading a few impressions on Instagram @thegoldenbun if you want to follow there.
Oh Madriz – a Spanish cocktail and tapas bar in the heart of Kreuzberg. Amandine was back in the city and we met up for dinner in her cosy neighbourhood Graefekiez in Kreuzberg. The tapas bar opened at the end of September and has already become a lively meeting place in the area.
Restaurant in Berlin Oh Madriz
Owner Miguel took over the previously existing pub and transformed it to their liking and inspiration from the 80s of the bustling Madrid district of Malasaña. Miguel is originally from a small village near Madrid. For several years he had been importing Spanish specialties from his region to Germany.
The place offers a lot of space inside and is also very suitable for groups. Miguel’s passion for photography can be found on the walls, where he exhibits works by one of his favourite photographer Ouka Leele.
Oh Madriz FOOD & DRINKS
On the menu you will find typical Spanish specialties. We ordered as aperitif a few delicious olives (3,5 €). This was followed by Cantabrian anchovieson bread (€ 4.2), the Spanish black pudding “Morcilla Ibérica” with caramelized onions (€ 5.2), a goat’s cheese in the oven (€ 6.8) and an Iberian plate (€ 14.5). We let the wine connoisseurs choose it and we were absolutely happy with our choice.
My favorite was the goat cheese in the oven, which was simply delicious. With a garnish of rosmary it got a great herbal taste. We were also very surprised by the Morcilla Ibérica. Usually Amandine is not a fan of black pudding at all. However, grilled it tasted spicy, but not too intense.
Our selection of tapas would definitely be enough for three people.
Those who can never decide like me, I recommend the selection of the chef (20 €). You can rely on Miguel!
Anchovies and pepper on crusty bread and my favorite the warm goat cheese with rosemary on top
Oh Madriz RÉSUMÉ
We visited the Oh Madriz during the week and only had one glass of wine. I would definitely recommend coming during the weekend (but book a table beforehand) for a delicious cocktail – and of course for a few tapas.
