The holiday region of Lana has so much to offer and that in every season. And what could be nicer than stopping in after a leisurely hike through the vineyards or along the high-altitude paths.
This time I was recommended the restaurant “STADELE”. It used to be an old barn in the family house and then years later the idea of the young, passionate chef Matthias Wenin.
The simple façade does not immediately suggest an old barn.
The Wenin family had the “Stadele” converted into a very special restaurant. Lots of wood of the old structure, modern chairs and benches and lots of orange make it inviting and very cosy.
“Hearty enjoyment of authentic specialities and culinary masterpieces framed by the urromantic modern age.”
It sounds so inviting on the website of the Restaurant Stadele.
The lively pictures on the wall are by Franziska Egger from Lana.
Son Matthias is the chef here and the various menus suggest innovative and experimental dishes.
for starters green apple – cress – baked oysterFish soup – FocacciaOctopus – Fennel – MandarinSpan Pig Back – Puntarelle – Liquorice Yoghurt – Crispy PotatoDuck breast – sweet potatoes – autumn turnips – pink pepperKhaki – Quark – KaffeeWarm chocolate tart with liquid core and chestnut ice creamChocolate Valrhona Banana – passion fruit
The description of the dishes on the menu cards is short and without frills, on the plate a wonderful experience for the eye and the palate, a very interesting taste experience and even after several courses I feel light. Here the chef combines traditional South Tyrolean food and fusion cuisine. The selected ingredients come mainly from the region.
In the basement the wine cellar in the old stable, the original feed trough serves as wine rack for noble spirits and the large selection of top wines and the design chairs are a beautiful contrast to the old stone floor.
After a good coffee together with the likeable chef and his warm mother – by the way the only woman in the team at the moment – I unfortunately have to make my way back.
Dear family Wenin, Many thanks for the wonderful food!

Hello 2020! I wish you all the best for the new year and decade. We got off to a good start into the new year with a fun group in Cologne. The Christmas days have been quiet here on the blog and this year even without Christmas greetings (I hope you forgive me). This was because I forgot my charging cable in Berlin. The computer free time did good. Like every year I was on the road a lot with my family and mainly on the ski slopes. The weather was beautiful. Here are a few impressions from skiing in Reinswald, Merano 2000, Karerpass and Val Gardena. Unfortunately I didn’t make it to my beloved Seiser Alm this year.
After four months, it became highest railway to dedicate a blog entry to a very big event of the year. After two years in my flat share I moved a few houses down the street.
I was really looking forward to the move. Finally buying new furniture again, styling an apartment beautifully – everything to our taste.
It would have been so easy, if a) I didn’t have such a hard time choosing something I liked, b) my boyfriend didn’t have something to say about it (this point is no longer relevant, as I have been delaying my decisions for so long that he was defeated) and c) the delivery times for furniture weren’t so long. Long story short, after three ordered dining tables, for example, the third one was allowed to stop (I don’t want to talk about it).
Interior-Struggle THE COOKING TABLE SEARCH
One room that is slowly becoming homelike is the living room. As I said, we finally found a nice long two meter table at DELIFE (what do you think of my Christmas decoration?). Sofa and my nice big Berber carpet I brought with me and currently we are looking for a nice coffee table.
At Pharao24 we have found some nice models. Here the questions still arise whether we prefer a wooden, stone (my favourite!!) or glass table. Of course a coffee table with pull-out function would be great. In the meantime, I have already searched through almost all interior pages and slowly found the right one.this round stone table I find super beautiful. A glass table classic, which I still like very much, because it looks so nice and light.

Which option do you like better? 1-2 or 3?
I am curious what the New Year will bring. Maybe I will get the last inspirational boost for the apartment over the holidays. At the moment I am still confident. I am very much looking forward to showing the first impressions.
A few days of retreat and relax in the pre-Christmas period… Therefore I had chosen the completely redesigned hotel – DAS EDELWEISS Salzburg Mountain Resort – in the Salzburger Land, which was reopened in July this year, and because on the way, I planned a visit to Salzburg, the famous festival city.
With beautiful memories of this enriching day in Salzburg, the scent of candles, sweet pastries and mulled wine still in the nose, we went on to Grossarl. The journey should take about 50 minutes.
Grossarl, the main town of Grossarltales is situated at 924 m and is about in the middle of the valley. There are around 40 covered huts and 73 km of perfectly groomed slopes on the Skischaukel Grossarltal-Dorfgastein.
THE EDELWEISS Salzburg Mountain Resort and its story
“Keep up with the times and do not forget the roots. From vision to reality, from hotel to resort. We have fulfilled ourselves and you a dream.” says family Hettegger. They have been active in the hotel business since 1979. From a pension with 14 rooms it is at present after a very successful change 150 rooms. and 7,000 square meters Spa with two separate ranges – Adults Only and Family.

The Infinity Pool
I love that, early in the morning when almost everything is asleep, explore the hotel in peace and quiet and swim a few rounds before breakfast. It was a pleasure to have the Infinity alone for me and to enjoy the view of the mountains and the sunrise.

THE WELLNESS RANGE Adults-Only
Wonderfully relax and take a deep breath in the spacious Adults-Only Spa area. THE EDELWEIS didn’t promise too much. It was very relaxing. The infusion in the panorama sauna and of course I also tried the cold pool, it was an overcoming but afterwards a wonderful tingling sensation on the whole body.

Families with children also get their money’s worth in EDELWEISS. PRINZENLAND EDELWEISS is an exciting play paradise with an adventurous water park with five slides over two floors, its own pool and family sauna.

& SUITS
DAS EDELWEISS names its 113 rooms and 35 suites, named after mountain flowers such as FEUERLILIE, LAVENDEL, SILBERDISTEL, ARNIKA, MARGUERITE or MELISSE, living worlds and oases of well-being. The Top Suite EDELWEISS has a living space of 115 m2, a heated suite pool on the 300 m2 south terrace and its own sauna.
The room equipment is modern, elegant and in natural colours and mixed with wooden elements. The beds were very pleasant and my room very quiet, with open balcony door I slept wonderfully.

Culinary
Breakfast at the marketplace
After a restful night and a few rounds in the infinity pool, the rich breakfast buffet was just right. Although I love breakfast à la carte, I could arrange my breakfast in the EDELWEISS MARKTPLATZ on the ground floor.
In DAS EDELWEISS, the chef and family member Alexander Hettegger pays a lot of attention to the fact that regional and seasonal dishes come phenomenally on the plate. And he advises the guests to take their time and take their food more consciously, preferably without a telephone at the table.
In the evening you can choose from three menus, meat, fish and vegan and the seven-course surprise menu for connoisseurs.
Gegrilltes Cod fillet, Thai asparagus, Risotto Nero, PaprikaschaumIberico Pig on Paprika VegetablesVariation from KaiserschmarrnDeconstructed apple strudel
The dishes were refined and tasty and after the sweet desserts one could create as a crowning conclusion a cheese plate with wonderful cider at the evening buffet.

OR MAN GAMES TABLE FOOTball
Very noble and stylish the “Calcio Balila” or Calcetto – as the Italian calls the table football game – just behind the Smoker Lounge. I would have enjoyed “kicking” a few rounds after dinner.
Unfortunately there were no players, the cool Alpinbar was more interesting and my short break was over.
Many thanks to the extended Hettegger family and the very friendly and courteous staff. It was very pleasant! I am happy to recommend you to others.

South Tyrol is known beyond its borders for its excellent cuisine. From the typical Buschenschank, the inn to the fine star restaurant, there is a lot on offer here.
The Oberwirt am Gries, as it is called here in Lana by the people, was highly recommended to us. And I am very curious.
The first impression is very good. The winter garden in front of this historic building is very inviting, surrounded by strikingly beautiful Mediterranean plants. The myrtles seem to thrive especially well here.
Oberwirt am Gries, Lana INTERIOR
Inside you will find a very refined and cosy atmosphere, in the entrance area a small sales corner with selected products, two inviting restaurants, one with traditional wood panelling.
The welcome of the landlords Traudi and Renato is very cordial and to start the evening a glass of perfectly cooled Franciacorta of the house Berlucchi is served to us at the open fire.
The lovingly decorated and fruit-filled old porcelain bowls, distributed on the tables and niches, complement the furnishings. Here you immediately feel at home.
Oberwirt am Gries Lana FOOD & DRINKS
The menu is small and fine with a focus on mainly Italian dishes, the description of the dishes is clear and without frills. As the Slow Food movement says, food should be healthy, tasty and produced in a clean and fair way. The wine list meets the highest standards. Renato enthusiastically tells us about his commitment and the exclusive events of the Merano Wine Festival, which takes place every year at the beginning of November in Merano and its surroundings and here in the Oberwirt.
From the treasure cellar – an old port wine from the Crimea
Renato will be happy to tell you the story on your next visit.

SWEET TEMPTATION
Panna cotta served in glass with Sicilian lemon and prickly pear pulpPot dumplings with cinnamon crumbs, fried apple ice cream and marzipanThe coffee after the delicious desserts should of course not be missing. Traudi’s home-baked nut biscuits are sufficient for this. Delicious!
It gets even more cosy at a late hour, the gentlemen from the next table join us, the innkeepers tell us and the excellent Rhum lets us stay longer.
A good glass of Franciacorta is always possible, even after dinner and is one more reason to stay in the Christmassy garden.
Dear Traudi, dear Renato and your team, it was a wonderful evening with you! Many thanks!
