MUN Restaurant
The MUN Restaurant is located somewhat undercover in a fashionably refurbished cellar in Innere Wiener Straße 18 at Haidhausen. The restaurant is furnished in a clean and cozy style, which reminds me of international eating places be it in China, New York or Argentina. The main reason for this is probably due to its ownership by a Korean-American cook and his partners.
Who is Mun?
Mun Kim’s culinary career started late, as he had been working many years before as banker. With such a stressful job you need a good balance, which Mun Kim found in cooking that has accompanied him all his life. After having chucked his banker job he attended first the Sushi Chef Institute. Apparently Mun Kim’s motto was “who does not chance it, does not win it” and thus in 2010 he opened Casa Mun, a kind of Supper Club, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This restaurant became quickly one of the top addresses. After that he became chef at the Mendoza vineyards in 2010. But that was not meant to remain his last stop.

MUN Restaurant The food
Ultimately he found a new challenge in Munich. His High-End Asian Fusion cuisine is an enrichment of Munich’s gastro scene. The choice is between a four course menu (58€) and a six course menu (88€) or you may have some delicious appetizers at the Bar.
Our Tasting Menu:
- Sushi
- Octopus
- Mun-Style Dim Sum – Pork belly and cucumber in a Bun
- Korean Rib Eye – Entrecote with Korean Sauce
- Yuzu Panna Cotta
Some interesting wines from all over the world were served with our meal, amongst others a Herrenberg Riesling 2014, a Chateau d’Azur Bandog, a Tradition’ Rosé 2014 or a Moscato D’Asti as a sweet finish.
