Active-holidays in CARINTHIA with Sportfabrik at FALKENSTEINER HOTEL & SPA CARINZIA, Austria

Do you fancy a real alpine feeling in Carinthia  with a varied outdoor programme and pure relaxation on top? Then, the FALKENSTEINER HOTEL & SPA CARINZIA is the right place for you. In addition to an all-round wellness offer in the heart of the Alps, the hotel, together with its partner company SPORTFABRIK, offers varied sporting activities for adults and children for every season – tailor-made on request.

GET IN TOUCH WITH THE CARINTHIAN ALPINE FEELING

The idyllic picture is indescribable: The morning sun greets with warm rays of sunshine and expels the last wafts of mornign fog from the Tröpolacher valley. The first day that we will spend in the mountains is already promising a lot, so that we finally want to start full of energy without loosing time anymore.
We start up into the mountains in the direction of Tröpolacher Alm. Here we are welcomed by a fantastic view of the surrounding mountain landscape and a herd of curious goats who know exactly that there is something to snack on. A great open-air alpine breakfast with various handmade cheeses, jams and delicious spreads, fresh alpine milk and a cheerful atmosphere is also already waiting for us. By the way, here you can personally look over the shoulder of the cheese manufacturer at work, ask questions and be amazed, because cheese production is very traditional, requires strength and patience and is therefore certainly not an easy job. One more reason to hopefully appreciate the delicious product you can taste in the end!

So fresh and good is the taste of homemade products on the Tröpolacher Alm. Everything is manufactured here from own products and served to the guests. Only the bread is still ordered. But this will also change in the future. A great concept that really convinces!

Here the cheese is still traditionally handmade and we had the chance to have look over the shoulder of the professional cheese manufacturer.

Home-made tastes the best: traditional Carinthian Kasnudln

A trip to the Carinthian region without trying the famous Kasnudln is absolutely impossible! But we didn’t just order them in the next restaurant, we made them ourselves. What requires some skills the first time, works very easily afterwards, makes fun and tastes excellent! Carinthian Kasnudln can be differently filled. But they taste with a potato sour-mint filling the best.

Local fact

In Carinthia it is said: If you can prepare the Kasnudln once, you are allowed to get married!

LEISURE- & SPORTS ACTIVITIES IN CARINTHIA – THE ACTIVE PROGRAM AROUND NASSSFELD

Our next stop is the Aqua Trail, which is placed in front of the impressive Rosskofel. A little paradise to switch off. The beautiful hiking area is easily reached by cable railway. Hiking trails and mountain bike routes also lead here. And what is the quickest way to get down again? Best with the summer toboggan run! And in winter – of course, you can skiing along the slopes to the next stop or cable railway to get up again.

See and experience the real alpine feeling: Also the herd of cows enjoys the wonderful alpine landscape in and relaxed the whole day.

By the way, a few meters further down, between the Rossalm and the Tressdorfer Alm there is the cool outdoor park Nassfeld. The park is well equipped and offers exciting sporting challenges for young and old. With 12 different courses and 62 platforms on 3,000 metres of climbing distance, both beginners and advanced climbers will find the right route to master. Alternatively you can rent mountain carts or archery! The letter is highly recommended.

ENJOYING THE SUMMER: AT PRESSEGER LAKE IN GAITAL

The Lake Presseger See is a real natural jewel in Carinthia. Clear lake water and wonderfully large sunbathing lawns in the middle of the mountains and forests. After an exciting day up in the Alps, a cooling day at the lake is very welcome. There is a wide range of activities to choose from, including beach volleyball, football or mini golf. Swimming and sunbathing is included in the wonderful, pleasantly cool lake water.

A little activity tip: If you ever get the chance to be part of the stand-up paddling, you really have to do it! The boards offer a safe stand and already after a few moves man´s has it on, so that you can glide safely over the water. For the very brave and those with a good sense of balance, Ulli from SPORTFABRIK offers something great: Yoga on the stand-up paddling board in the middle of the lake! Have a lot of fun and is certainly something you won’t experience on every holiday trip. We were completely thrilled!

You should defenetly ry it: Yoga on a stand-up paddling board. Info: You can rent the board for 15€ for tree hours.

local fact

Lake Presseger See is considered a family lake in the Gailtal valley and can heat up to 28°C. The lake is also called “the bathtub of the Gailtal”.

Oh God – already September! Where has summer gone? To spend the summer more in Berlin didn’t work out so well again. I look back on many beautiful summer moments. Fortunately, the weather in Berlin is still nice for a while, even though it is a bit fresher in the evening. But now I’m also looking forward to the more relaxed, cooler days, where I can concentrate fully on my projects. For the first time a big project is the furnishing of our apartment, where we don’t get into the pots at the moment. It is also incredibly difficult to choose the right furniture. Our interior team in the office has to help me a little. Hopefully there will soon be the first interior posts.

I wish you a good start to the week!

VAL GARDENA – on a hiking tour in the flowery & impressive DOLOMITES

It is impossible to put into words how idyllic Val Gardena is. It seems as if nature has nothing left to by chance over the years and humans have contributed their part to create a great travel and holiday destination here. I have been for a long time a big fan of Vicky’s homeland South Tyrol and now I´m almost speechless of the perfectly beauty of the Val Gardena landscape, which you can reach in only few kilometers of Bolzano.

DOLOMITS UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE – discover VAL GARDENA

It´s not a big secret that the locals love their beautiful Val Gardena paradise. They tell you that directly. With bright eyes speaking about all the hotspots you should visit during your stay there, from which side the famous and hardly to be missed majestic Langkofel looks the best way and what is going on in the small, pretty towns in the valley. By the way, a “chocolate side” of Langkofel does not exist. Every point of view is uniquely beautiful, imposing, mystical in a special way and absolutely worth to visit and see! Almost a true dream that is not accessible to mountain climbers and alpinists only. Therefore it´s advisable to plan some time to get to know the Val Gardena landmark from all sides and to discover and enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the UNESCO World Heritage.

Local Fact

In 2019 everything in Val Gardena will revolve around the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of Langkofel! You can take part in historical walking tours as part of the Val Gardena Activity Program there as well.

It’s a rock – says the child
It’s a masterpiece – says the architect
It’s my home mountain – says the locals
It is my habitat – says the Edelweiss
It’s my working place – says the mountain guide
It’s a miracle – says the heart*

FLOWERY DOLOMITES – a flowery hiking tour through VAL GARDENA

There is a lot to see and do in Val Gardena. The Val Gardena Active Program is full of exciting and different activities in all seasons. Almost all year round there are various sporting and cultural activities.
Now in summer, for example, beautiful seas of flowers blossom over valleys and mountains and several types of herbs on the alpine mountain meadows. Good to know, that you can attend guided Flowery Dolomites hikes there with the extremely charming flower and herb expert Karin Planker. She knows a lot about healing herbs and reveals one or two secrets. Or a great tip for your own kitchen.

tip:

Good Heinrich is used in the kitchen as wild spinach and is rich in vitamins and iron content. It is harvested between May and October. However, this should not be picked up wild, as its stock is very endangered!

If relaxed hikes through the beautiful Val Gardena are not enough for you, more challenging mountain runs, mountain bike and climbing tours will be a good choice! Hut hikes are wonderful: Here you can feast on the tastiest local specialities and always have a view at the great natural wonder alover! Therefore, the perfect photo motive is always guaranteed and anyone who wants to see the sun rise over the Landkofel is welcome to do that: Seceda, the western part of the mountain is simply perfect for it.

Via Sellajoch (Passo Sella) you take the calble gondilas up to the Langkofel Scharte. The view is incomparable and worth the exciting gondola ride! The ride up here is something special: The gondolas don’t stop and you have to jump in quickly. Alone or with a maximum of two people standing up inside, the ride takes about 15 minutes.

did you know?

The history of the Dolomites began about 2.5 million years ago. At that time the Dolomites were under water in the primeval sea forming a huge coral reef. The characteristic form was created by volcanic eruptions, among other things.

Dolomites Val Gardena was, definetly is and remains a dream landscape with a great offer for all adventurers, connoisseurs, explorers and nature lovers! Once you’ve been here, you’ll be safe again.

I wish you a wonderful day!

A Saturday in Berlin – market at Karl-August-Platz & Strandbad Halensee

The good morning hour woke me up very early on this beautiful summer Saturday. Summer only rushes past me. After a very nice dinner with friends the other day, I had the feeling that I hadn’t really tasted the summer in Berlin yet. That, although I had actually done a lot. Maybe it’s the workload, the move two weeks ago. Who knows? Likewise, I was just really scared when I saw that I had gone into hiding here again for a few weeks. So… let’s break the silence!

WOCHENMARKT AM KARL-AUGUST-PLATZ
Wilmersdorf

In Berlin there is always a lot to do on Saturdays. I just love getting on my bike and going to another neighborhood. Said – done. Verena and I visited the Wochenmarkt at Karl-August-Platz in Wilmersdorf. A really incredibly great market. The products are super, the market people very friendly. And then we discovered the flower stands! A flower stand was completely grazed already at 11 o’clock. At the rose stand we were lucky and even got a bouquet as a present. 3 bouquets for 10€ – I call it a deal! For a little refreshment we ate a tasty white sausage and then we went on.

STRANDBAD HALENSEE
Grunewald

The afternoon ended in the Strandbad Halensee. Sun, lake – what more could you want? From the middle you need about 40 minutes by bike to get there. A bit of sport never hurts. I like the way there very much. Last summer I went to Charlottenburg or Wilmersdorf at least once on weekends.

Keeping it simple – the white bermudas & black basic top

Hello! Hope you’ve had a great start into the new week. Here’s a quick look from the weekend. After truly a long time (3-4 months for sure) I went shopping on Friday night. Ok, not entirely true, because I’ve just purchased these cool Supergas during my layover in Bologna. I actually hadn’t planned to buy anything but ended up with these cool bermuda shorts and black top (also got it in white because it’s perfect for the office). An easy-breezy outfit for summer. Shot after our relaxing day at the Strandbad Halensee in Berlin.

I just love the Berlin summer!
