Vespa Tour Rome. What more stereotypical can you do than renting a Vespa when in Rome? Rome’s traffic is said to be terrible during the week but on weekends the streets are nearly empty. But we both weren’t afraid of driving and I mean, I survived cycling through the Parisian traffic for a year.
Vespa Tour through Rome
Since we’ve been walking on the other days a lot it was so comfortable to enjoy Rome on a Vespa. And for navigation you can either load your google map on your phone beforehand or rent a GPS.
We started our tour with driving to San Pietro. Gosh, the queues were so long. Apparently, a lot of people prefer taking the stairs for free rather than taking the elevator for 7€. So if you’re impatient as I am – take the elevator! Generally speaking, I don’t understand people who are queuing 70% percent of their visit. Afterwards we drove up the Passeggiata del Gianicolo for a great view over Rome. The next stop was lunch in Trastevere, which also included another icecream at Fior di Luna. I also discovered this great sandals shop called Di San Giacomo where you can create a pair of handcrafted ones. Later on we drove up to the Giardino degli aranci where have another great view on San Pietro but also on the Altare della Patria. And don’t forget to look through the keyhole!

EN – Sunset. Except Saturday, the weather in Rome was incredibly beautiful. I was more than happy to get some sun after the awful weather in cold Germany. Finally, I could wear this gorgeous dress I found on Sheinside a while ago. We brought my aunt some flowers and used them for the shoot. Yes, I know – taking pictures from and with flowers is such a blogger-thing. Wish you a wonderful weekend!
You can imagine that Rome was pure heaven when it came to food especially sweets and treats. I highly recommend you to eat some gelato at Fior di Luna in Trastevere, which strawberry is just the best I’ve ever eaten. So good that we went there twice. Either you love it or doesn’t – the ice cream from Il Gelato di San Crispino is different than the normal creamy ones, but their meringue, chocolate and nut sorts are so good. Last but not least you must try the Sicilian granita at Nonna Vincenza preferably in a brioche. I didn’t want to go there because I expected a typical granita made of juice and crushed ice, but you’ll get some fruity deliciousnesses. So much for gelato and granitas.
My aunt told me about having brunch at Antonello Colonna at the Palazzo dell’ Esposizione and eating at Marzapane close to Villa Borghese. Unfortunately, time was too short to try it all out.
We enjoyed a lot eating at Urbana47, which was a wonderful romantic dinner with my boy in the Monti area. It is such a cool restaurant and the food and wine is exquisite. You’d better book a table a day in advance to make sure that you’ll get a table outside if the weather is good enough. The Testaccio area has gotten quite foodiac in the past years and we had a nice dinner at Il piccolo alpino, which has a cute terrasse outside, there are no tourist and on Thursdays you’ll get some delicious gnocchi. Very simple restaurant but great food. Another spot is near Campo dei Fiori called Sora Margherita where you’ll also get traditional Roman cuisine. Moreover, apparently you’ll get the best carbonara at Roscioli.

After my short Instagram-Preview here comes the first set of snapshots through Rome. On our first day we took a long walk in the city centre. The city is even more beautiful than I remembered it. The typical Roman architecture, small alleys, lots of plants hanging down the walls, the jasmine scent in the air – simply the feeling you have while walking through the Italian capital. La bella vita! It also seemed as if everybody got married this weekend. We met so many newly weds.
EN – Roma. I just got back from some marvelous days in bella Italia. Rome was more than beautiful and I am missing those good times already. The idyllic alleys, long walks through the city, good food and tons of pasta and gelato. It was also perfect to try my new camera out and now I only need to sort out the 1000 pictures I made. The best of them will be up here soon! Buona serata!
Buona serata!
