If there was one attraction we couldn’t miss it was the new Yves Saint Laurent Museum. The museum opened on On September 18, 2017 in Yves Saint Laurent’s second home, Marrakesh. In fact, there wasn’t a place where he couldn’t be more creative than in Marrakesh.
Designed bySTUDIO KO
The new Yves Saint Laurent Museum was designed by Studio KO. It was commissioned by Pierre Bergé who unfortunately passed away before the opening. The architectural studio is based in Paris / London / Marrakech. The architects have been designing single-family homes to date. You can imagine what such an assignment means for an architectural studio. With the completion of this contract worth 15 million euros, the architects are in line with those you will always remember.
Upon entering the entrance, visitors gather for the first time in the round interior, where they face a strong wall with the fashion initials of the designer. Behind it you get into the exhibition rooms.
The choice fell deliberately on the architecture studio, which focuses heavily on the light and color of its surroundings. For the construction local materials such as terra-cotta, Moroccan stone, marble and concrete were chosen.
Minimalism and materiality en point!
I especially like the café and its outdoor area with a pond. Here the visitor finds peace and is ideal to relax between sightseeing.
My highlight of the exhibition was the large room where some of his masterpieces are on display. There is also a large collection of jewelery. In that room photographing is strictly forbidden, so unfortunately I could not show you this.
The room is darkened and the mannequins are illuminated, with dramatic music playing in the background. A wonderful moment, which was the highlight of my visit.
Let’s kick off this year with the first look (not the actual first one as this one’s a little throwback from last year’s trip to Morocco). I’m currently busy with writing all the reviews from Marrakesh & surroundings for you. I’m looking forward to publish them all because I’m really in love with the pictures.
Regarding this look I chose some comfortable looks for our trip. This animal print palazzo trousers from Studio Italy had just arrived on time before leaving. Such pants are indeed perfect to stay cozy yet stylish while traveling. Also, they’re super light if it gets warm.
Tip: In case it gets a litte bit colder you can also easily wear a pair of leggings underneath!
If you still haven’t gotten hands on your smartphone necklace you definitely should. You can find a couple of great ones, e.g. from XOUXOU Berlin or also on Etsy.

Cheeky sayings on the menu, casual drinks at the bar – this is how the new Eatery & Bar Philiaz presents itself in Caldaro. The former “Weinstadl” was transformed into the metropolitan restaurant Philiaz, which opened its doors in August 2018. The fresh wind does the South Tyrolean gastronomy incredibly well. “Finally not feeling like in South Tyrol when eating out,” said a friend.
In South Tyrol, you’ll get the perfect mix of Mediterranean and South Tyrolean cuisine. New concepts from all over the world gradually make it to South Tyrol. Such as a kind of “pop-up cooking”. This is exactly what the Philiaz does. Every three months they host a new guest chef. Willibald Reinbacher from WAPALAPAM made the prelude on Mauritius. I have yet come to the pleasures of his dishes. The lamb curry appetizer reminded me of our trip to Mauritius.
From 09.01. until 10.03. There is Indian Street Food by Anirudh Arora from Hankies London.
Philiaz FOOD & DRINKS
Sharing is caring is up high here. On the menu you will find a selection of small appetizers that are perfect to share. Therefore, I recommend you to go with several people, so you can try several dishes. I’ve already been there twice now and I recommend you the following dishes.
I highly recommend the Tataki, Crunchy Tuna, Lamb Curry and the Tiger Prawns as starter. As main dish I loved the Tagliata and the Porco Preto dish is also really good. The first time I also had the Touch of Asia soup, which is perfect for the extremely hungry ones among you.

Philiaz RÉSUMÉ
Personally, I enjoyed both evenings at the Philiaz very much. There are exciting variations in the dishes. While the wine selection was very good, the aperitifs did not kick me off at all. Also, for some the music may have been a little too loud during the meal. This did not bother me. All in all, I will definitely come back.
You know what? I sometimes really miss the proximity to the mountains. From Berlin it’s simply not possible to get in the car or on the train and to be in the mountains within an hour. Professionally, there was a lot going on in the last autumn months, so I deliberately wanted to take a longer break at the beginning of December (a life update is now overdue). A spontaneous Girls’ Spa trip with one of my best friends from Munich in DAS TEGERNSEE was very convenient.
The Tegernsee is one of my favorite lakes in the Munich area. For a long time I wanted to spend a few relaxing days there without having to return to Munich in the evening. Said and done.
DAS TEGERNSEE probably has the best south-facing location which offers a fantastic view of the lake. After a long drive from Berlin we wanted to get some fresh air before dinner and visited the local Christmas market, which was really cute.

Christmas at Tegernsee
Tip for pre-Christmas time: the “Tegernseer Adventszauber” (Tegernsee advent magic). The Rottach Christmas market is supposed to be the most beautiful. The ship also offers a Christmas market hopping across the lake.
Das TegernseeLIVING WORLDS
The special features of the DAS TEGERNSEE are the different living worlds: the historic Sengerschloss, where we spent the night and the four differently designed living worlds Quirin hostel, Tegernsee house, Haus Wallberg, the Alpenchalets. One world for everyone’s taste.
Architecture & design
The redevelopment of the living worlds was carried out by the renowned Munich architecture studio landau + kindelbacher. The historic building structure has been preserved and has been equipped with a modern design concept.
In the renovated Segnerschloss there are eight differently designed luxury suites. Each of the rooms has its own style maintaining the original shape. Old structures, such as wooden ceilings, were revalued with neoclassical elements.
Design lovers come here to their liking. Modern accents of brass and gold, elaborate wallpapers and designer pieces from Maxalto, Poliform, Gubi, Oasis and Knoll International, for example, melt history and the present into a larger whole. As an architect, I find the renovation very successful and we felt very comfortable in the premises of the Segnerschloss.
wake up with a mountain view – unbelievably beautiful!

Highly recommended are also the great packages, such as # alpenglühen, #alpinerluxus… Personally, I loved the two days of spa. Therefore, I recommend the #EasySunday package (189 € per person) very much. It includes an overnight stay from Sunday to Monday including breakfast buffet, a 25 minute massage, as well as the access of the spa and wellness oasis until departure.
Das TegernseeTHE BREAKFAST
Extensively having breakfast, chatting with your girlfriend and having a relaxed start to the morning – the perfect start to our girl’s holiday. The Restaurant Senger is located on two levels, where of you’ll have a wonderful view of the Tegernsee. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and could then enjoy some hours of sunshine on the terrace.
The breakfast selection at the buffet was great and everything tasted very good. We loved the fact that typical Bavarian Weisswurst was served for breakfast. But you can also order all other egg dishes.
Personally, I would loved to been offered some fresh juices. I love it when hotels have juice presses where you can have a healthy vegetable or fruits drink.
No visit to Bavaria without a Weißwurst-Frühstück (only a Weißbier was missing)
some sun on the terrace – we were so lucky!noble refurbishment of Sengerschlosses with the old railing and floor combined to new modern elementsThe cozy lobby area, where in the afternoon a small cake buffet is establishedConnecting elements between the living worlds
Das Tegernsee WELLNESS & FITNESS
After spending a few hours in the sun, a little sports session before sunset was perfect. DAS TEGERNSEE has a small well-equipped gym. I did a 40 minute interval run having a fantastic mountain view followed by some HIIT exercises. Whenever I spend a few days in a hotel, I try to exercise at least a bit.
DAY SPA at Das Tegernsee
A day spa at DAS TEGERNSEE is particularly popular. In 2016, the more than 2,400 square meter wellness oasis was expanded. In addition to a large pool with outdoor pool, there is also a Finnish sauna, forest and bio sauna and aroma steam bath.
Not to miss – the sauna infusion with the Ammersee Bua!
I absolutely love sauna infusions at wellness hotels. Our sauna master, the “Ammersee Bua” Andreas made great infusions with different flavors. I highly recommend to join sauna infusions at hotels. But make sure to take breaks in between and drink plenty. The feeling afterwards is incredibly good!
cooling down. admire. enjoy.
My personal highlight was relaxing at the fireplace lounge between the sauna sessions. The view of the mountains was incredibly calming. A stove is just something wonderful!
Winter coziness…
The Alpenbrasserie
In addition to the Senger restaurant you can also have dinner in the Alpenbrasserie, where they serve regional alpine cuisine. It also calls for a nightcap after dinner.
And so our stay at DAS TEGERNSEE came to an end. A break on the Tegernsee has done incredibly well. I can highly recommend you the DAS TEGERNSEE. As I said – the packages are very tempting!
