Restaurants in Munich | Asian fusion at Shami

Shami. Working independently means that I don’t really have any holidays nor bridging days. On the other hand this means I can test restaurants whenever I want, preferably for lunch (which is also so much better for my pictures). However, most of my friends work during the week, which is why I rarely eat out for lunch. Luckily All Hallows’ Day was perfectly placed on a Tuesday meaning that Monday was a normal working day. Conny had a day off and we met up for lunch at Shami close to Münchner Freiheit. In Munich there are many Asian restaurants but there are only a few with a nice concept and great interior. Therefore, I was happy to have found this one.

Shami

The Shami restaurant lies inconspicuously in Markstraße. As soon as you’ll enter you’ll be standing in front of a wall with cool Asian graffitis. The restaurant is divided into three parts: there’s a smaller dining area in the front part followed by a classic bar area and then there is one more larger dining area with bigger tables. Moreover, there’s a terrace outside, but right now it’s way too cold for it. Luckily we got a table right away because it got quite crowded as soon as we were seated. Online I’d only found the À la carte menu and we were surprised by an even better lunch menu.

Shami Food & Drinks

For lunch you’ll find various appetizers, soups, Bun Bowls, different wok-dishes and classic curries on the menu. We chose the Edamame with chili sea salt (3,90€) as appetizer, which is one of my favourite Asian starters (especially with sushi). Conny chose the Crunchy duck with ginger and vegetables (8,90€) and I went for the Chicken with lemongrass and peppers (8,90€). Both dishes were served with rice. My other friend chose one of the Bun Bowls with beef (8,90€). Please beware that the dishes my be quite spicy and check that with the staff. My dish got super spicy after a while but it was full with flavours and tasted great.

All in all, Shami made a dent on me – great food for a normal price! I’m definitely coming back for the great atmosphere.

October recap. Wow! Compared to the last half year October was definitely packed and full of adventures. Since I’d handed in my master project on September 30th I thought I might have some time off but I had always something to do. I kicked off the month with a great weekend at Mama Thresl in Leogang with my mom, followed by a couple of visits back home and finally I flew to Moscow, which was simply amazing! Don’t worry all my Moscow posts are coming up very soon. I’m still waiting for the final video we’ve shot in Moscow. Can’t wait to see the final result.

Monthly favorites BOUGHT

Most of the looks I’ve already shown you. I got two gorgeous dresses: this embroidered black dress from Warehouse and this cute ruffle dress from Asos. Moreover, I was lucky to find the perfect overknees while I was in Salzburg.

Monthly favorites READ

Shame on me again. I only read one book of my favorite Stephanie Plum series. There are only a few books left, which I haven’t read. Then I’ll stop to spam you I’m really looking forward to warmer temperatures (see planned – travel) and to read a little bit on the airplane.

Monthly favorites SEEN

Made in Chelsea started again and I couldn’t wait for the new episodes to start! This November Gilmore Girls will finally start and my girls and I can’t wait for the new season. But I also watched some movies. I absolutely loved Sms für dich, which is a German comedy and watched it with my mom on my birthday. Some friends of mine absolutely wanted to watch Finding Dory, which was quite funny but now as good as Finding Nemo. One more movie I loved was Avis de mistral (engl. Our Summer in Provence), a French tragicomedy. I just love French movies!

Monthly favorites PLANNED – TRAVEL

And there are indeed two new destinations on my list for November. I’ll head to Marrakech with my mom on Saturday for four days. Right after I need to head home to Italy and will go straight to an event in Mannheim. Moreover, I’ve finally booked the flights to Dubai with my best friend. I definitely can’t wait!

Organza top with a bow. Winter has arrived in Munich now! In fact, this look doesn’t really match with the actual weather. I’ve completely forgotten to show it to you. These ripped jeans were the perfect companion for autumn but right now it’s just too freezy for it. But I’m going to head to a warmer destination this week where I’ll definitely bring them along. A while ago I ordered a couple of tops and this organza top with a bow was too cute. I’m still lacking in tops for going out – never ending story!

Wish you a wonderful day!

Restaurants in Munich | Steak & Fish at Westend Factory

Westend Factory. A lot is budging again in Munich’s gastronomy. A great many new restaurants have opened, and my list got longer again. Recently the Westend Facory has opened at the Heimeranplatz, and I was glad to test it together with Conny and Phil. I had already seen some nice photos and reports posted by my food blogger colleagues. We, too, were very much enthused by this restaurant, which – lo and behold – is part of the Sheraton West Park Hotel. Unfortunately, restaurant gastronomy does not always have a good reputation, but we here in Munich can consider ourselves lucky, as there came up some exciting concepts.

Westend Factory

The Westend Factory impresses me favourably through its industrial but nevertheless cosy interior. The restaurant can seat 140 persons and is mostly well booked, hence I recommend to make a reservation. Steak and fish comes on the plate and the various dishes are simply put in the middle, so that everybody can share anything with everybody. This is laudable, as one always wishes to taste the dishes friends have chosen.

Regionality comes first – a good, simple and honest kitchen. The beauty about it is that new dishes are offered frequently meaning that the kitchen does not rest on its laurels. Always creating new recipes is certainly fun. Wines are coming from greater distances up to 300 km away. Besides exciting wines they also offer a variety of beers from the small Munich Brewery called Brauerei im Eiswerk (find my post here).

Westend Factory Food & Drinks

In the Westend Steak & Fish Factory you are welcomed with a freshly baked Ry bred with fresh cheese and red beet dip with cress, which is followed by delicious appetizers and main course. One thing was right away clear- our hunger was much bigger than our stomachs. The portions are copious and super delicious. My favourite amongst the appetizers were the Kräuterseitlinge with beer cheese and Cremolata (7€).

Westend Factory Steak & Fish

The pork belly cooked during 24 hours (8€) was also worth tasting. As main course we got something hefty in the way of a delicious steak. The calf entrecote (27€) and the Dry Age Cuts from New York Cut und T-Bone Steak (78€) was just about the limit. I eat rarely fish in Munich and was glad about a char from Lake of Starnberg (55€). As sweet finish there was Willi’s Crumble“ with Red wine Sabayon reminding me of a pile. A very fine end.

I can highly recommend the Westend Steak & Fish Factory. The weekly menus offered for lunch are also very good and have more favourable prices. For the rest the steak prices are completely adequate and I will return there again.

Have a nice day!

Comfort Cut. It’s tights season again! If you’ve been following my blog for a while you know that I’m a huge fan. These ones are definitely my favorites and I love more playful like these ones too. My favorite tights brands are definitely Calzedonia (even though they haven’t changed their assortment much in the past years), Falke and Wolford.

Wolford has recently launched their newest collection with the Wolford Comfort Cut 40 which are designed to fit each figure individually. This can be done by the four cuts in the waistband. I must say that I’m pretty impressed that the tights stay perfectly in place. I’m wearing them in this look and I’ve been wearing them nonstop the last weeks. Most of the times my tights get destroyed immediately but the Wolford Comfort Cut 40 ones are of great quality and so soft. I must say that I expect a lot from a 39€ pair of tights. Still, I can’t say if a more expensive pair of tights lasts longer. In my opinion it’s always better to go for a 40den pair instead a 15-20den pair. Lighter ones are much more delicate.

Wish you a wonderful day!
