Shangri-La Dubai. I’m still speechless when thinking of our stay at the Shangri-La Dubai. The first time we entered a bright entrance hall welcomed us. There are beautiful marble walls in combination with golden elements, round shapes and a fresh new look. We were super lucky because the hotel had just finished renovations and we were some of the first guests to see the whole new entrance hall. Hashtag interiorlove! The hotel had a lot more to offer. You’ll see…
Shangri-La Dubai Room with a view
Now this is what I call a room with a view. The Burj Khalifa is like Dubai’s Eiffel Tower. It is super impressive and I always got quite excited when seeing the world’s highest building (find more pictures of our visit to the 124th floor up here). It was just perfect having a room facing the Burj. Besides that, how crazy is the traffic system? It’s just so different than the roads we have in Europe. Our Deluxe Burj Khalifa View Room was fully equipped and we had a comfortable large king size bed. When you entered, there was an elegant bathroom with bathtub and a separate shower. Apart from the amazing view we also had a little bar, a large desk and a small cupboard. As a little welcome gift, we had got some amazing sweets, which we ate immediately. Fresh fruit and water were always filled up. I have one little remark, though. The space for our luggage was quite limited. We were travelling with two suitcases and one trolley. The cupboard was fine and there were some more drawers. But if you didn’t want to hang up everything in the wardrobe there was only little space in the hallway.

Shangri-La Dubai The breakfast buffet-heaven
The breakfast offer of the Shangri-La Dubai was one of the best I’ve ever had. The choice was huge. There was a large Continental banquet with fresh salmon and different kinds of cheese from France and Switzerland, fresh fruit and different yoghurts and muesli. In the back there was a large variety of Indian and Asian specialities. They also had a Chinese noodle bar, which I had to try. It reminded me of my trip to China where we always had a soup for breakfast. Moreover, you could order your eggs in any style. I was so happy when I discovered that they served Oeuf Benedict, which is probably one of my favourite breakfast dishes (not the lightest, though). And I nearly forgot to mention the bread and pastry station. Next to traditional baguettes there were different kinds of wholemeal loafs and more. If you are a sweet tooth you’re absolutely right there. You’ll also find delicious pastries and cakes. Ok, can I go back please?
Shangri-La Dubai Pool area, spa & night club
Even though Dubai has lots to see, we also enjoyed some time at the pool. The large pool area is located on the fourth floor, same as the spa area. The pool will convert into a nightclub in the evening but is open to guests until 10pm, which is great. During the day it is quite crowded at the pool but in the evening you’ll find less guests. The best part about the pool is the view onto the Burj Khalifa (I told you that I always got excited when I saw it). The spa area is separated for women and men. The area had a little sauna, a steam bath and three different types of Jacuzzis. The ambience was relaxing but the light was dimmed a little bit too low to read. I absolutely loved the water infusions they offered in the spa.

The Shangri-La Dubai has eight different restaurants and bars, e.g. a Chinese restaurant, the Shang Palace, a French-Vietnamese brasserie Hoi An or the The Act Dubai, which is a New-York-City nightlife theatre. We opted for the Shang Palace and a full review will be online tomorrow. All in all, we had an excellent stay at the Shangri-La Dubai and I’m looking forward to going back.
