D-Resort Sibenik. A little guide to Central Dalmatia and a restaurant recommendation for Sibenik is already online. A lot of you asked where it’s best to stay in the region of Šibenik, which is why I wanted to share our great hotel – the D-Resort Sibenik.
The D-Resort Sibenik opened nearly a year ago in June 2015 and lies directly on the marina called D-Marin Mandalina, with a wonderful view onto the old city centre. The area used to be an ex military zone which they have completely restructured. You may feel this when entering the marina. There are still some points where public facilities are located. Close to it there is a small port to the left, which is a ten minutes walk away. On the other side you’ll find a prestigious yacht harbour together with all the luxury facilities needed.
D-Resort Sibenik The interior
In general, there aren’t so many hotels four star and more hotels around Šibenik. De facto, with the new hotel of the D-Resort company they’ve created a new vista of the city. D-Resort Šibenik has an extraordinary architecture, which I immediately fell in love with. It reminds of a gigantic boat, which comes out of the bay. The interior is super clean with natural materials and a pure concrete façade. Inside the concrete got a special wooden structure, which made it light and subtle. Everything exactly my taste!
D-Resort Sibenik The room
We slept in one of the superior rooms, which was spacious with a comfortable bed and stunning interior. I loved the Mediterranean mix with modernism. I’ve been in a lot of hotels so far. However, this was one of the few where I wanted to have it all back home: I loved design of the bed area with the combination of the wood, concrete and glass elements. Moreover, I had a little balcony with view onto the yacht harbour, which was nice to enjoy a little bit of sun in the evening.
However, there were some bits and bobs that weren’t thoroughly thought. Nonetheless this didn’t bother my stay! The bathroom was lacking more outlets. Next to a hairdryer woman may also bring their hair straightener, curling iron or more. Also, there were no hooks for hanging up dry towels. Apparently the superior rooms were all different, where some had hooks, some didn’t. Moreover, they’ve fixed their cupboards higher onto the wall. They probably didn’t have in mind that this would affect the height of the hanging rail too. One last thing, which I never understand in hotels is why the night service is always so early. They made everything bed ready around 6pm, while the sun was still shining outside. In total the D-Resort Sibenik offers 63 superior rooms, 6 suites and 3 exclusive villas.

D-Resort Sibenik Eating & drinking
Foodwise we were definitely spoiled. The hotel has various bars and restaurants. Due to the low season only the lobby bar on the ground floor and the Art restaurant was open. The lobby bar offers a tea time for all hotel guests in the afternoon. You’ll get drinks and delicious nibbles.
the art restaurant & bar
Breakfast takes place from 7 – 11 am at the Art restaurant. They offer a big Mediterranean buffet. Given the fact that guests may stay longer than two nights, they could vary a little bit with the buffet. Our lunches and dinner were great and we could try some of Croatians specialities. However, the menu was quite European and I missed more Croatian dishes on it. All in all, the kitchen is creative and inventive. Afterwards you can head to the bar and fade away the evening enjoying the beautiful view onto Šibenik. On Fridays and Saturday they have different bands that accompany the evening, which was really pleasant.
D-Resort Sibenik The Villa
The three villas are located up on the way to the spa. We were lucky to get an exclusive tour of one, which is definitely worth seeing. Likewise the interior was just the way I would want my vacation house (if I’ll ever have one). It holds up to four guests. The villa has two spacious bedrooms with a private bathroom each. Moreover, it has a large living / dining room and not to mention the 30m2 terrace with private infinity pool. Not bad hugh?
D-Resort Sibenik The spa
The spa area with the outdoor pool is located up the small hill. We had a nice and enjoyable program, which left enough time to enjoy the spa area. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t so warm, but I’ve enjoyed a few hours in the sun, which included a little swim in the cold pool (cold waters are no skin off my nose). The spa is as beautifully designed as the rest of the hotel, which is also open to public. They have two saunas, one hamam, a steam room, a vitality pool and ice fountain. You can book different spa treatments, whereof we could enjoy the whole body massage. It was so good and I felt so sleepy afterwards. What I really liked it the pool area but given the fact, that there is no beach close by it is quite small.
All together I’ve really enjoyed my stay at the D-Resort Šibenik and I highly recommend it during your visit in Sibenik. One more post with the beautiful beaches and small villages around Sibenik will follow.
Have a wonderful day!
