Unexpected blessing in disguise in Paris

My layover in Paris was definitely not planned. I took off in Berlin in direction Paris. As we got closer to the French capital the captain announced that we cannot land in Paris due to the strong weather. We ended up in Lille and flew back to Paris around 2am. Of course, I’ve missed my connection flight to Tokyo and Julia had to leave without me. This was definitely the peak of my streak of bad luck. It felt like Friday 13th. My bad luck had already started in the morning at work where my PowerPoint didn’t save and I had to redo all my work. I nearly missed my flight to Paris because of the long queue at the security check-in. Meanwhile I locked out my roomies I’ve left my keys inside. 1,5 hours later and 270€ poorer the door was open. My nerves were raw…

Memories in PARIS…

After a short night at the airport hotel I decided spontaneously not to stay at the airport the whole day. I was ready to set foot on Parisian ground again. I hadn’t visited the city in 2,5 years.

Weird. Emotional. Beautiful.

There were so many emotions coming up. So many beautiful memories, which most of them I’d shared with my ex-boyfriend. Maybe that was the reason I didn’t want to come back. I’d definitely had the feeling that I’ve seen most of Paris. After the day yesterday I feel like I absolutely need to come back. Baby steps, though and only for a short weekend. I’ll have to get used to Paris again.

The day started with a delicious breakfast at Paperboy (I’ll post more about the café in a separate post). Afterwards I started my stroll through Le Marais– thanks god my trolley has four wheels! From there I walked until Notre Dame cathedral. The weather was absolutely amazing.

I followed the Seine until the Musée du Louvre, strolled through the Jardins des Tuileries and said hi to the Eiffel Tower sneaking out behind Musée d’Orsay.

But I’ll never leave Paris with a visit of my favorite place – the Palais Royal. The rose garden bloomed so beautifully. I’ve feel like I’ve taken 100 pictures of it. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time for a delicious strawberry sorbet at Café Kitsuné as I had to get back to the airport. I quickly greeted my old apartment building in Rue du Bouloi and took the RER from Les Halles.
