Oh Madriz – cocktails & tapas in Kreuzberg

Oh Madriz – a Spanish cocktail and tapas bar in the heart of Kreuzberg. Amandine was back in the city and we met up for dinner in her cosy neighbourhood Graefekiez in Kreuzberg. The tapas bar opened at the end of September and has already become a lively meeting place in the area.

Owner Miguel took over the previously existing pub and transformed it to their liking and inspiration from the 80s of the bustling Madrid district of Malasaña. Miguel is originally from a small village near Madrid. For several years he had been importing Spanish specialties from his region to Germany.

The place offers a lot of space inside and is also very suitable for groups. Miguel’s passion for photography can be found on the walls, where he exhibits works by one of his favourite photographer Ouka Leele.

FOOD & DRINKS

On the menu you will find typical Spanish specialties. We ordered as aperitif a few delicious olives (3,5 €). This was followed by Cantabrian anchovieson bread (€ 4.2), the Spanish black pudding “Morcilla Ibérica” with caramelized onions (€ 5.2), a goat’s cheese in the oven (€ 6.8) and an Iberian plate (€ 14.5). We let the wine connoisseurs choose it and we were absolutely happy with our choice.

My favorite was the goat cheese in the oven, which was simply delicious. With a garnish of rosmary it got a great herbal taste. We were also very surprised by the Morcilla Ibérica. Usually Amandine is not a fan of black pudding at all. However, grilled it tasted spicy, but not too intense.

  • Our selection of tapas would definitely be enough for three people.
  • Those who can never decide like me, I recommend the selection of the chef (20 €). You can rely on Miguel!

RÉSUMÉ

We visited the Oh Madriz during the week and only had one glass of wine. I would definitely recommend coming during the weekend (but book a table beforehand) for a delicious cocktail – and of course for a few tapas.
